I was convinced Steele would win our BNF and have his best year after going and watching our intraclub match preseason.

He was great round 1 then busted his thumb. Managed to get going but it cost him momentum.

Big year ahead.

That said, I think we need to learn from the Cloke affair that we cannot let a player hold us to ransom. Fair pay, perhaps a little bit extra on top if they are loyal. But no crazy deals which will hamstring our young talented list. It works for Geelong and Hawthorn.

Its rare you find players play so well in finals. To trade Steele would be a big mistake

1. Kicked 10 goals in tac cup.
2. Best on ground in ade elimination final playing only 10 or so games in his first yr.
3. 2nd behind thomas I felt in the first gf in 2010.
4. 2nd behind pendles in 2nd gf in 2010.
5. And his goal and reaction agst geelong in the 3rd qrt in 2011 is etched in my brain.

His influence in finals can not be denied. We need his guidance when the whips starts cracking. To trade sidebottom would be a huge mistake when he contributes in h/a games and more so when in matters most.... Finals!!!!

Sidebottom will be important from the ages of 25-30 as a spiritual leader and will guide the likes of treloar moore daicos de goey broomhead jeremy cameron and all our younger brigade in finals in the years to come. His value can't be underestimated. He'll inspire em. Offer him a decent size contract players like him are worth their weight in gold.

1: Natanui
2: Hannebery
3: Beams
4: Shuey
5: Davis
6: Hartlett
7: Sidebottom
8: Ziebell
9: Zaharakis
10: Hurley

It's a pretty strong top 30, other decent players like Suban Trengove Ballantyne Lynch Rich Yarran ect

it

6: Hartlett
7: Sidebottom
8: Hill
9: Zaharakis
10: Hurley

its a tricky one i feel.

i would probably have sidebottom in the top 5.. reason being.. lets compare beams and sidebottom.. yes i would take beams ahead of sidebottom but how do you quantify sidebottoms excellence in finals compared to beam's non appearances in em.. yes beams plays a major role in the home and away season as does sidey not to the extent of beams.. but sidey shines so much more than him in finals. if our ultimate goal is to win premierships i know who id much rater have in the side in finals.

Sidebottom would rate above Hartlett easily on performances to date. I think Hartlett has finished in the top 10 of PA once I think I recall reading, which was 8th last year.

I would prefer to keep Sidebottom.

Sometimes he is a game winner, sometimes he seems lethargic.

But he is a smart footballer. You don't get rid of them for draft picks.

The only trade that I hope Collingwood would entertain would be for J. Cameron.

Swanny stays on in 2017 will be the kicker that gets Sidey to recommit to the Pies

I say trade him while he has some strong currency. What we need is a key forward!!!!!!!!! Not midfielders

This is the dumbest idea I ever heard.

So as soon as any of our top 5 players at the club have currency we trade them?
That is ridiculous!!
No way Steele gets traded, the guy is a big game performer and will be vital over the next 6-8 years, will be a 300 gamer for Collingwood

No way they will let Omeara go
He's out of contract next year and is rumoured to be looking for a move to Victoria. They may not have a say in the matter.

Pendles has some strong currency too at the moment. Let's trade him too!

I'm not sure we got him over the line in this contest. I can remember voting multiple times.
