My initial reaction is to be sympathetic but not after thinking about it a bit more........how many times do these guys need to be told something? He saw what happened to players at Melbourne and Essendon etc.......and still went ahead and had multiple breaches (Uber and hanging out with Wellsy)
He could've gone and seen Howe , been a good mate and driven himself but decided to "get on the beers" (as Dan The Man would say) in the lead up to a game. Putting everyone's season at risk was worth it to have a few beers during the week of a very fragile AFL season.
I think he should cop 1-2 weeks and should be sanctioned from within Collingwood.

A silly decision to make, and he'll cop 1 or 2 week ban and may be something from the club too. Disappointing but I'm also surprised there hasn't been a whole lot more breaches reported as well, across the league

Agree to disagree. If they'd brought the virus back to the club and played on Friday against Essendon then I can see all sorts of disastrous outcomes.

It’s far from the worst Covid breach. Meeting a team mate and person from the club who is outside the bubble while catching an Uber.
Being in an Uber isn’t really much worse than going to a a supermarket, or several open homes. If McKenna got 1wk then so will Steele

I didn't say it was the worst , but I think each player who does it after seeing others get pinged for it ..............well it just gets "dumber and dumber."
I think a week (or two) will be the penalty , so no argument there either. I just think some sort of internal sanction will come because he has a leadership position and has put the huge efforts of everyone else - and our season - at risk.
And what happens to all those that work within the AFL, that are not players, do they go the rest of this year without jobs and a salary?
He knew it was breaking Covid-19 rules and would see him suspended.

If the season is cancelled the players don't get paid.
That would be a lot more unfair as it will leave many players with serious financial issues.
I love Sidey as well, and he has been a fantastic player for our club, but this is just so disappointing, and weakens our side for no reason. It is not like Sidey is a first or second year player, he is a seasoned veteran, so he should be knowing right from wrong. No excuse for this at all...

Yeah it was stupid, no doubt. I just understand it on one level. We were all devastated when Howe was injured.
Yea... but then how do you explain him also going to visit Daniel Wells? He is clearly showing a blatant disregard for the restrictions and putting our club at risk.
Plus he could of visited Howe for under 2 hours then gone home and not got into trouble...
The players want the season to go ahead, why do you think it's best for them to cancel it?
