In addition to that, the players who live in the suburbs that have been locked down are being forced to move by midnight tonight, because those states wont let anyone in from those suburbs.
Sidebottom just got himself suspended for 25% of the season.

Players are just people. People make stupid decisions. Strong leaders also can make stupid mistakes.
Plenty of people sometimes need a blow-out to de-stress. Who really cares if Steele had a skinful?
The naive people are the ones who actually think that players are some kind of special role models who don’t drink, do drugs, have other vices, have problems at home, battle depression or make stupid decisions like 99% of regular people do.
Remove Covid world, and the club might have gone the Hawks method of just giving him a token fine like when Hodge was caught drink driving before the 2015 finals.
Are you such a wowser that you think Hodge was a poor leader because he made a stupid mistake? IMO, Hodge is arguably the best football leader of the last 15 years. Or are you naive enough to think that it was just a once off for Hodge?

How many individuals are you pointing the finger at given we have 38 players each year at the club with a turnover of say 6 new ones each year.
I presume you are referring to either Thomas/Murray, drink driving - JDG, racism - Lumumba, gambling - stevo.
You are tarnishing a club because of a handful of players/incidents.

Couldn't agree more, I've done more than my fair share of stupid things over the journey. But I haven't done anything that could have had the flow on ramifications like Steele did. My stupidity had ramifications for 1 person, me.
What he actually did wrong was the following
He got an Uber
He spent more than 2 hours at a team mates house
He visited a friend who isn’t family or a team mate.
Feck I did all that myself last Saturday!! Thank feck I am not an AFL role model
As we are in heightened COVID panic, and AFL is copping blows this week, they were going to come down on any players who slipped up and didn’t adhere to their guidelines, which are stricter
Always going to be made an exception out of him with an over the top punishment to show how ‘serious’ the AFL are! And yes the AFL delivered by suspending him for a quarter of the season.
Sure it is the price they pay for being highly paid professionals, don’t like it quit and play local footy ya dada da
But fans trying to then equate making a mistake with him being a poor leader are just barking up the wrong tree IMO.

All things that the AFL negotiated with the various jurisdictions in order to get the game going again. As such, they are all living under stricter rules than us.
