Yeah 2 weeks would of been more around the mark, not happy either way tho, indiscretions by key players costs the clubs dearly....Stevo last year pretty much cost us a shot at the flag.Seems pretty harsh unless there is more than reported. Not like he drove drunk, crashed into multiple cars and then buggered off as well as breached the covid rules(looking at you Lachie!)
Personally, I think while he has been great, a President shouldn’t be able to serve as long as he has.Hey Guys, I come in peace, but I generally want to know a Collingwood point of view here...
I have actually been someone from another club who thinks Eddie has been awesome for your club over the years, in fact I was envious for a long period that we didn't have a president who actually managed to get things done for their football club. It was never a question of lover him or hate him, it was judge him on his output, and he has put Collingwood in a wonderful position over the last couple of decades!
That being said, do Pies supporters think his time has come to limit his capacity to only ONE of Club President or Media Commentator? I think with the level of scrutiny and excessive amounts of media these days on the AFL, Eddie has found himself (IMO anyway) being too contradictory in his portrayal of incidents in the media, therefore reflecting really poorly on the footy club?
Is it time to step away from one?
Don't get me wrong, I actually don't have too much problem with him trying to protect Steele here, just that his response flies in the face of what he said for Jack Steven and Lachie Hunter that it is taken as a reflection of your club rather than the individual...
Are you guys starting to get fed up with Ed, or the reflection he has on the club, or are you happy with what goes on?

In other news, it's been discovered that the sky is blue and also, water is wet!So Swan says he tried drugs during his career? That's what I said?
Every club has brain-farts, probably as much as us, however we're the only club we're the brain-farts are banged-on about in the media for 2 weeks and our supporters act like the world is going to end.I never said every other club is good, you love to put words into peoples mouths. We have more "brainfart" moments than every other club in the AFL, do you disagree with that?
You're the one who thoughts "minorities" meant Donald Trump and Pauline Hanson... and I'm the strange one?![]()

You're the delusional one here thinking our club is some sort of cesspit for breeding assholes, you go literally by anything the media says and use it to shake your finger at the club, yet when things are going well strangely you say nothing.Right... So other clubs have had as many players suspended for gambling and testing positive for illicit drugs on game day?
Can you please name which clubs these are? You live in la la land with your head in the sand.

This is absolutely correct excepting for the occasions on which it isn’t.Nothing strange at all, unless you are elderly or have certain illness its a nothing burger of a virus.
It’s a perfectly cromulent word. You made me look it up, I thought you may have been joking as I do have a habit of word inventorialism
Thanks for the advice. There are many injustices in the past which make me angry when I reflect on them. I think that is normal. The passage of time doesn't make poor behavior somehow less poor. I don't let it ruin my life but when I am on a footy forum discussing player behavior, these incidents do come to mind. In 20 years time, if I'm still alive, I will be just as disgusted with the non decision in the last two minutes of the 2018 GF which cost us the flag as I am now. That's just how I roll. I'm a passionate little f*****.If you're still infuriated by the follies of our 1990 and 2010 teams, then I urge you friend, learn how to let things go.
Free yourself, let them go.

But apparently they didn't let us down. On the field, we won.I could flip your little angle. How would you feel if you discovered that during the week leading up to the 2018 grand final three or four Collingwood players had been out partying till the early morning and had attended training hungover? Losing would make it sting just a tad more wouldn't it? The fact we won in 1990 despite the lack of character and discipline of some of our players was fortunate but does not change the fact that these blokes let down their teammates and supporters.
******* Caro, this woman is a dead-seat idiot. Basically telling Ed what he should be doing, telling him Steele should be sacked as vice-captain over this. Guess what Caro, it's not up to you and what you think is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. Just fu** off, this is why people disrespect you.
Why shouldn’t he have a rant? We can’t all be as cool as you. You're an angry little man when people criticise Collingwood aren't you. You need to learn to take criticism without having a meltdown.

I'm actually pretty used to it. Mate you can try and paint the picture that Ed's this weight around our necks but the truth is.....we could have Mother Theresa as our President and the media would still paint the picture that she was in charge of a brothel!
Other clubs, other supporters have to understand we (Collingwood FC and that's players, officials and supporters) ALL get tarred with the same brush that we've had said about us since we were born. We're the media's focus every day of the year (in season and out). The scrutiny on our players is enormous (and always has been) and NO-ONE wants us to succeed at anything. If we do something good, like the partnership with the local footy league during last week....it just gets swept under the carpet. What the media craves (and what they prod and poke and dig through the sewers for) is muck about Collingwood.
Look for yourself....COVID is killing people around the world, China is taking over the world and yet its a Collingwood player getting 4 weeks that is the big story in the media!
Ed has been great for footy and great for CFC. I'm amazed he's still got the energy to keep copping the $#&t he gets from everyone on our footy club's behalf. Yeah he's said some dumb things at times, but so's Jeff and Costa and Riccuito and Koshy....ask yourself...who get's the reputation over and over again?
We're Collingwood....we've been holding up the VFL/AFL forever and all the other clubs hate us and we know it.
What's new?
Ps......I have most of my teeth, but I am over 70 so I guess I'm allowed to have lost a few!
Started? I've been fed up with him for years. Trips over his own tongue way too often.
Thanks for the replies...I am over Ed. His endless politicking makes me ill. He is constantly pushing his lefty agenda on his radio show. He is an appalling, cringeworthy commentator better suited to WWE than our game. He regularly says stupid things which require clarification or tells a joke or the truth and then immediately rolls over and apologizes and begs forgiveness from the online mob which is even more infuriating.
For all of his tough talk about being a boy raised in Broady he seems very quick to roll over when the heat is on. His capitulation over the Caroline Wilson joke was truly as weak and undignified an act as I have witnessed. Stand your ground man. If you were truly joking and had no malice or deep seated wish to drown her, why would you not only apologise but stoop so low as to donate a large sum of money to an organization and then attend a re-education camp to learn the error of your ways?
I love his passion for our club. I love what he did for our club when we were in dire straits. I will always be grateful for that. If I met him and chatted about our Collingwood memories I am sure I would find him good company but any diversion from that subject would leave me feeling quite unimpressed with the man.
Yes-I think his time has come. Stay in the media ( I think that is his first love, ahead of the CFC). and let's have a fresh face come in to replace him. To be fair, the media is where he makes his living, but I am tired of his voice. Just an opinion.
Fair enough.99% of his posts are whinging about other posters, hasn't added anything smart to a football discussion in his life.
He’s got one more job to do.Thanks for the replies...
I don't think anyone from any club, if they are being honest with themselves, could argue he hasn't done wonders for your club...
But personally, I think he's done nearly all he can do, from here any ****-ups (even if they are unfair media driven ones) can only undo his good work...
Cheers
Sure, but the players respect him for protecting them in front of the media and dealing with the player sternly behind closed doors.Buckley is a soft 'you know what' these days. Needs to set the tone...
But he'll rather declare with a weeping heart... "Sidebottom is a young man on a journey and growth as a human being....blah blah".
