Speaking of impressive young men, this fella comes across well for a young bloke:
"I was one of the guys that expressed my desire for us to get better as a footy club," he said. "I think there were some issues with our culture and also our (fitness) program, and I was up front and honest with the club and a few other guys were as well. "I've seen some drastic changes in our culture, our leadership and the way the club's run. "There's just a really good vibe around the place at the moment and it's a really positive place to be around."

Hopefully he gets back out on the field soon.

Never been concerned that Steele would look to free agency, looks to be a one club player and I can see him being the next captain to be honest.

So who's going to be first into the "welcome to Brisbane Lions Steele Sidebottom" thread when the signing is confirmed?
I was about to take one for the team but the thread is locked [emoji1] .

Talk is cheap......take the Copeland of Pendles in 2016 and the football world will take notice.

The ball is in his court in 2016 let's see if he steps up to the level he should be at in this point in his career!?!

Yep, hopefully he gets on the Holden center real quick.

Who was the poster late last year who supposedly had a 'contact' who said Steele was going to hold out till the end of the year and his manager had advised him to take the highest money offer?
Me.
And I passed on the advice that he was given by his manager.
I never stated he would hold out. I simply stated the advice of his manager.
That the manager, the club and the player all know the situation yet still appear to have come to an agreement is excellent news.
My "contact" btw, is first class.

The entire board needs locking. Will be a good place for laughs come rounds 6-7 and they haven't won a quarter.

You know I couldn't understand all the angst between pies & lions supporters on big footy.
Starting to get the gist when I made a very rare trip to the main board today. Didn't realise they were so full of themselves.

Would be really good if we could have it locked away soon, he's a good footballer, anyways seemed like an easy-going good bloke and a solid citizen, and (if memory serves) tends to play well in big games.

Was a bit sad to see other 2010 premiership players move(d) on, stoked he looks like bucking that mini-trend.

It's great if he re-signs, but honestly, I don't feel he's integral enough to our side to worry if the deal doesn't get done.

He'd net us a top 10 pick comfortably in what is being dubbed a bit of a superdraft. If we miss finals again, we'd have 2 picks in a great draft while also freeing up MORE cap space to go after another free agent.

Steele is a good player in an area we have plenty of depth in. Strategically, I don't think loosing him would be the worst thing on earth. But as I said, if he signs, great, if not, there's definitely a shiny silver lining.

As a free agent the pick recieved would depend entirely on where we finish for the year. Its a bit simple to just assume we'll get a top 10 pick if he leaves, and frankly, he's worth more than that anyway in the new era of interchange rotations where endurance runners will be worth their weight in gold.

We traded our 2016 first round for Treloar and Sidebottom is a FA so we'd only get a compensation pick

#sidebysidebottom will be a hit. Too bad he doesn't sign halfway the season. We miss the chance for some nice banter with a few opposition BF-ers
This! Nothing would please me more than for those Richmond chumps to get their hopes up yet again only for it to come crashing down.
