If he gets more than 2 weeks, the AFL are a bigger joke than I thought.

Sidey has been a magnificent servant of the club, take the bad with the good. Everyone needs to calm down a bit.

This hub crap isn't normal - I appreciate its necessary to have games, but people aren't perfect.

True, but the AFL will come down hard. It was a blatant ignoring of the player restrictions. Majority of Victorians are trying their best to stick to the self isolation and do what is right for themselves and society, but then you have a AFL player completely doing what he pleases, despite the restrictions on him, it doesn't paint a very good picture to the broader community. Hence why l think it will be 4 weeks at least.
What l don't get is we had 3 leaders of the club together, in Sidey, Howe and Dunn, and not one of them thought that what was happening that night was not in alignment with the restrictions. Is there a leadership issue with our club, besides Pendles, and that's why we see year after year, indiscretions at the footy club?
They all seem great blokes, but are they actual leaders?

Howe dobbed in a 19 year old kid last year for placing a bet...........great leadership they said last year.

I’m not necessarily for him losing the VC, as I mentioned in the Lumumba thread with regards to Eddie’s mistakes, I think taking ownership of your shortcomings and setting an example thereafter is more powerful... it’s just that from the outside looking in, VC of a playing group is a more anonymous position and it’s difficult to display to the public and the members that you’re making amends beyond what would normally be expected of a senior footy player.

That’s correct. Steele also visited Wells, which is a breach of the AFL rules. I think he will get two weeks.

Good call. In terms of AFL covid breaches, Sidey may have only added visiting a club employees house who hadn't been approved. Could easily have been through not understanding the rules properly.

I'm certainly not outraged. I think they'll get a big whack though.
 
How the hell did he get picked up by the cops? Are the Vic police informed to drive the streets of Melbourne to look for players so they can dob them into the AFL?? I know the Perth cops have been doing it to ol' Benny Cousins for years but that's a different story....

In answer to your question, the only thing I can think of is that Steele attracts a tag and just doesn't know how to shake it.

You can visit other player's residences, for only a 2 hour period. The guys went over the 2 hour allotment according to reports.

Which was his undoing, because he then decided to get up, wonder the streets to see how he could get home 7.30 in the morning.
Cops will ask anyone what your up to, when your wondering the side streets of Williamstown in the early morning, a bit dishevelled, lol....
If the police weren't involved, l feel that this wouldn't have made it into the public arena.

History suggests 1-2 weeks given the penalties handed out thus far. Might get a discount because we've moved to a less restrictive (well other than certain postcodes) regime.
