When did the alleged racism occur?

How many individuals are you pointing the finger at given we have 38 players each year at the club with a turnover of say 6 new ones each year.

I presume you are referring to either Thomas/Murray, drink driving - JDG, racism - Lumumba, gambling - stevo.

You are tarnishing a club because of a handful of players/incidents.

I'm talking about the culture of a club, the majority of the blame should land at the club leaders. How do so many members of our leadership group get caught blatantly breaching important rules? How do our players not know you can't gamble on matches THEY'RE PLAYING IN? How many players have we had caught with cocaine on game day? Why do we have so many more "incidents" than other clubs?

Appreciate if you could answer what I asked.

The racism one is the only one that didn't occur in the last few years... That we know about*. All though you could easily include some things said by Eddie Mcguire in there.

As I said, the majority of the blame has to go to club leadership. Players, coaches and the President.

When the incidents are this frequent and constant over a long period of time it's no longer just bad luck. Look at how many incidents Geelong, West Coast or Richmond have had over the past 5 years and compare them to our rap sheet. Just bad luck you reckon? Nothing to do with culture?

They do get up to stuff Kapps, but their LOCAL media don't play it up like the Melbourne media do to the big Melbourne Clubs

So why do you question my reference to 10 years ago?

You still didn't respond to the number of players that have been at the club, yet are harping on about a handful and think that is the culture?

I don't care to look as the clubs have had there own issues, you just don't want to see it. Geelong recently? A stabbing, WC - Rioli tapering with drug sample? Richmond have also had their issues. some of which have been covered up.

Are you sure you are a Collingwood supporter?

for NSW and QLD yes, but SA and WA teams have even more local media focus on them than Collingwood. Whole city and only 2 clubs to talk about.

I agree (cos I've lived in both places) that they get Local media attention....BUT they don't get the special investigative journalism like we do...its almost as though the interstate clubs have an unwritten media law that they will criticise the clubs but not expose them. Here (and particularly for Us, Essendon and Richmond....Carlton have been irrelevant for so long) the coffin chasing journo's like nothing better than to SLOT a big club. They think it makes them relevant.

The 2 club cities populations couldn't deal with prolonged media expose's about their clubs...so they get the fluff pieces and occasionally a club great will criticise the coach or the results.....blah blah blah....but how hard did they go on the Eagle's drug habits or how hard did the SA press go on the ill fated camp that's cost them half their club?

Sorry but the weight of the AFL media's attention focuses on 2 or 3 Melbourne clubs....and our club is the target of choice on most occasions.

Read my post, i listed my examples then said "did I forget anything else?" then added a few things with question marks, meaning those were questions, not my examples. You can list one example from other clubs, why don't they have 5-6 in the last few years like us? Just luck?

Oh god that is the dumbest argument on this forum "you disagree with me therefore you must not be a real supporter"

He went to see a mate, good on him. The Govt sat back and allowed 10,000 plus to protest, at that point the battle was lost.

Too many dumb ****s in the Northern suburbs who think no speaker the english gets them out of everything.
Couldn't agree more, I've done more than my fair share of stupid things over the journey. But I haven't done anything that could have had the flow on ramifications like Steele did. My stupidity had ramifications for 1 person, me.

Cos you don't really matter. Its a harsh life for no bodies like us but try and put yourself in the others persons shoes before you condemn someone. Steele wont be the last guy to be suspended over this. Players are human, they are being asked to work and live under draconian conditions on half pay. Some of them are simply going to snap.

Sorry, I cant reply to this, Jmac70 has tired me out. Besides, we've made up and we're going to have a cuddle in his basement.

All things that the AFL negotiated with the various jurisdictions in order to get the game going again. As such, they are all living under stricter rules than us.
Yeah I don’t think anybody is actually trying to say Steele didn’t break COVID protocols.

He isn’t the first, and will be a big effort by the 700 odd players (or great covering up by clubs) if he is the last.

But feck me, some supporters have created some ridiculous unrealistic expectations of our players, and seemingly love getting stuck in if they slip up.

A lot of the "discussion" was about what he deserved as opposed to what he was always going to get.

The AFL couldn't go cap in hand to the other states after giving him 1 or 2 weeks, they were always going to throw the book at him.

His conditions really aren't that much worse than what other people have to live with, and he is getting around 300k per year...

Culture at Collingwood is bad, all other clubs good. Am I doing it right?

Oh god that is the dumbest argument on this forum "you disagree with me therefore you must not be a real supporter"

You really are a strange poster.

Didn’t agree when club made JDG front in front of the cameras to apologise to everyone on the club’s website after his indiscretions but do we see a similar fate happening with Sidey as well?

I never said every other club is good, you love to put words into peoples mouths. We have more "brainfart" moments than every other club in the AFL, do you disagree with that?

You're the one who thoughts "minorities" meant Donald Trump and Pauline Hanson... and I'm the strange one? ;)

If supporters can't acknowledge the fact that we have had an inordinate number of off field indiscretions/issues which have impacted our team and performance over a number of years they are not to be taken seriously.

The fact that other clubs may have had issues is irrelevant to me as a Collingwood supporter. When Bucks and the players have recited the "we are all about inclusivity, love, caring about each other and being "better people" every time they speak to the press these constant stuff ups wouldn't be so irritating. I sat down and compiled a list of incidents and I have included mental health issues as well which seem to occur at our club more frequently than most others.

Lachie Keefe and Josh Thomas-drugs and banned for two years.
Sam Murray- had already established himself as a decent rebound defender before his cocaine habits were uncovered. Never played another game. His last was against the Premiers of that year so he was clearly considered to be in our best 22 or very close.
Jordan Degoey breaks his hand in a fight. Lied about it.
Jeremy Howe breaks his hand playing a game of cricket and lies about it.
Sidebottom- drink and covid issues. Four week suspension and a huge loss to the team after losing another key player on the weekend.
Stevo-stupid, selfish gambling stunt which played a role in our failure to make the GF. Ten week suspension.
Jonathon Marsh- mental break down and walks out on the club. Now very happy at St Kilda and in their current best 22.
Dayne Beams. Top class football for four years at Brisbane-rewarded with the captaincy. Returns to Collingwood and suffers a mental breakdown after weeks of poor form and rumours and has now walked away from a four year contract.
Alex Fasolo- depression. Missed weeks. Used to weep in the car park before training.Adam Treloar- crying at training and struggling to get through a season.
Sier- Phil Inn
Shaw /Didak-drink driving and lying. Lengthy suspension at a crucial time in the season.
Even Nick Maxwell ( and Heath Shaw) got caught up in a betting scandal.
SHAMED Collingwood premiership stars Heath Shaw and Nick Maxwell have expressed regret over a betting scandal that has rocked the AFL ladder leader. The pair copped heavy punishments for breaking the AFL's strict anti-gambling rules after an investigation found they shared inside information with friends and family.
So Shaw was suspended for weeks and fined twice in three years.
Darren Millane died in a drink driving incident which devastated the club and set it back when it appeared to be on the cusp of a successful era.

Then of course there is the endless Lumumba soap opera which gets a re-run every two or three years. Racist club, racist culture...…..

If this isn't enough to raise an eyebrow or cause some consternation I don't know what is. Who knows how many other scandals have been covered up.
I'm fed up with the endless injuries to key players (no-one other than luck to blame for most of them) and the endless self inflicted wounds. Note how Richmond are playing crap football at the moment yet still have their full list available? You have to laugh or you'd cry.
