We enter the finals missing two of our top six players. Richmond I note will have everyone bar Soldo up and running in the first week of the finals. It happens every year. Before anyone talks about their outstanding player management you will have to convince me that Lynch strained his hamstring slightly enough and in the right round in order to recover in time for the first final due to Richmond's excellent player management.. When our players strain hamstrings they usually miss four weeks and sometimes months. It is not simple carping. Richmond are a great, well drilled team but they have been repeatedly kissed on the charlie with regard to injury and availability when it matters most. We had a similar run just once in 2010 and surprise surprise-we won a flag. Seeing them having such luck four years in a row is bloody galling.

To be fair Sidebottom would be available any other year. We would be missing Howe and Phillips which considering past years is actually pretty impressive for us.

Agree, I can’t remember a side being as lucky with injury as Richmond even when missing stars it seems to come at good times for them.

I also think Richmond opponents this year had come off a shorter break then the tigers more often then any other side.

Maybe COVID numbers are on course to have the borders naturally opened up before Grand Final Day or even earlier?

Why put new parents through a 14 day hotel quarantine when there is a reasonable chance they might be able to fly up later and avoid it?

Reading the last few pages of this particular thread is a key reason why I don't log in as often as I used to.

So much negativity and so much attacking the club and the player.

Steele has become a father FFS! It's the single greatest gift he will ever get. An extraordinarily wonderful, challenging and magical upheaval to one's life. His life as he knew it is completely changed forever. Steele will be a different person, and he will have much different priorities in life now.

This is a messed up year for all Victorians and at large the entire world abroad. Everything is changed and still changing day by day. Give Steele a break and be happy for him.

What's happened to Side by Side? What does it mean these days? Is it just a bullshit slogan that only suits keyboard warriors when we're winning games of footy? When times get tough, when the chips are down, when it's all running against you, Side by Side right? We're all in it together and we support and conquer whatever the group faces together.

So unbelievable and so sad that Steele is being judged harshly by quite a few in this forum.

As for some people talking about Steele & his wife unable to count to 9, please get some perspective. It's not a simple act of relations with your partner once and "bingo bango, thank your mother for the rabbits" your partner falls pregnant. Sometimes it takes months or even years to conceive a child, sometimes it never happens at all.

Life is a gift and this should be a truly special time for Steele and his family. We all know that he will be spewing to miss finals and not be able to help the club, but family must always come first. Everyone can agree on this surely?

I support his decision to stay home, he owes Collingwood nothing.
