Can I ask what Martin has done to constitute being worth Wellingham?

I guess in terms of need Collingwood could do this deal but Martin is only a solid player whilst Wellingham was integral in Collingwood's premiership win ... probably best on ground in a prelim final win over Geelong. He's a very good player.

I think it should be Martin + for Wellingham.

The Pies are no scared to give away good picks to get what they need..... they even gave the lions pick 14 for Wood....
gave Sydney a good deal for Jolly too....
so i wouldnt be suprised if a first rounder was offered.... or second rounder plus maybe a fringe....

Honestly, I don't think they can afford to give away a 1st rounder for him. There's only a certain amount of times that you can trade out of the first round before it starts to effect your future. Not saying that Collingwood have a lack of good youngsters or anything, but you would rather keep your first and then offer a 2nd rounder and maybe a player if necessary to bring him in.

Did you see Friday's game? Wellingham stands up in finals, Martin can do a few things OK but doesn't excel at anything. He doesn't have a footy brain meaning he often gets caught with the ball and his disposal is suspect. I just don't think he is as good some Melbourne posters make out. If we didn't sign Jamar for 3 years (something which I think was a mistake) then I would keep Martin as first ruck option until hopefully Gawn/Fitzpatrick come on. Maybe adding pick 13 is overs but a straight swap would mean the Pies paying overs - maybe Martin and pick 26 for Wellingham then? Not sure the Pies would take that though, Wellingham is a pretty good player.

At the end of the day Collingwood need a tall to replace Jolly, and if Cloke signs then the salary cap gets tighter and Wellingham will most likely be squeezed! We have a tall who I believe could develop well at Collingwood, and would happily give a home to a guy they would most likely have to get rid of anyway.

Why pay overs if we don't have to.

I would think Martin is available for the right price. From memory he is contracted for another season. He is versatile but played his best footy last yr (2011) when playing as #1 ruck when Jamar was out injured. Martin has been in and out of the team this yr but mostly due to injury.

Pies have now been linked with him a number of times and I would of thought a 1st round pick (approx 18-23) is paying overs & a 2nd rnd pick (36-41) is paying unders. I can't see any players that Pies would be willing to give up in a direct trade that Melbourne would be happy with. I know Neeld would prefer a ready to go player but who he would deem sufficient I don't know. Ultimately at the end of the day, Pies may have to pay slight overs to get him as he is contracted

Martin + what = Wellingham?

Pies fans, fill in the blank. With Jamar and Clark up and going and Gawn a good young prospect, Martin would be available for the right price. I reckon he's decent though (definitely better than Sellar) so I wouldn't give him up too cheaply.

I rate Martin fairly highly. Still think Wellingham would be overs for Collingwood though.
It's hard to say though because Martin could be the difference between getting a flag and not getting one, where Wellingham probably isn't so the pies mightn't mind paying a little bit over to get martins if they are indeed interested

Any suggestions that MFC would want Neeld gone come from a position of pure ignorance.
He's one of the best things to happen to the club in a long time.

I think a proposal bordering on fairness would be:

Stef Martin + pick 13 to Collingwood
Wellingham + pick 21-ish to Melbourne

This deal still slightly favours the dees

Really I reckon Martin and your second rounder would get it done.

Well Pies would not be giving you a 1st Rounder for him. I reckon it will be 2nd RNDR + a Player that Neeld Rate s that is in the VFL

you are not getting a 1st round pick for him end of story no team would give up one for martin.

I will bump the shit out of this post when it happens at the end of the year.

He's an athletic ruckman who can play multiple positions - we're always going to get overs for him because there will be a lot of clubs interested.
