stenglien has the height and strength which makes him more versatile, but he is purely a defensive player

i think josh has more impact on games than tyson does

Who do you think blocks, shepards, and tackles players allowing blokes, like Judd, Kerr and Cousins to get the ball??

Stenglien isn't just a defensive player.

Look at his stats from last year. Especially from round 17 onwards. Definitely not the stats of a pure defensive player.

J Carr easily, but the port version. Ever since he went to freo he hasn't had the same impact.

Anyway, I'd still rate the freo verison higher than stenglein.
Easily??

Carr is a ball getter and thats it.

Stenglien can play as a tagger or ball getter.

I think they are ideally suited to their respective clubs.

Carr`s a **** stirring little git that will most likely end up being suspended sometime in the near future and Stenglien is all class.

Carrs the better player but I think atm Stenglein has had more influence on the Eagles team then Carr has on Freos if that makes sense

Carr goes quiet and goes missing when the heat is really on his team. Stinger will be found at any stage of the game in the thick of the action in the centre square, diving in, tackling, wrenching the ball out and doing the grunt work.

Carr is a lot more inconsistant now he's at Fremantle too

I can honestly say you are right on the money...Carr doesnt come out to play every week, Stenglein does.

But Carr is a big game player (GF, Showdowns & Derbies) Stenglein not sooooo much, but is very effective at what he does and is very underrated.

Stenglein needs a rat to gnaw that mole of his face.

Josh Carr is a sensational footballer, Stenglein is overated by own supporters (but strangely not many others) who wasn't or isn't one of the top line midfielder either at Adelaide or West Coast.

Its inetresting to see the development of this thread

On one side we have Eagles/Crows supporting Stenglein and on the other Dockers/Port supporting Carr

Me I like Stenglein as well and yes its because he wore a Crows jumper

When the heat is on its usually because the team has gone missing (with exceptions to 2 or 3) not just one player. But its great how you can notice just the one.

And thats to be expected from such a defensive player. THAT IS WHAT THEY DO.

Yes your right (for once), he is a little inconsistent...

Josh by a mile. If Port were offerred both for pick #90 in trade week, it'd take all of about .05 seconds to decide on Carr. Stenglein's a dime a dozen tagger. Effective and every side needs one, but he can't irritate the opposition off their game too boot like Carr.

What a load of crap. Josh is a much more than a ball gatherer. Defensively he is much better than Stenglein he just doesn't tag as much now.
Defensively he is much better then Stenglein?? Your kidding.

Anybody that knows anything about football will tell you that Stenglein does a heap of work off the ball. I reckon he would be the 2 or 3 bloke picked because the work he does off the ball helps Judd, Kerr and Cousins get the ball.
