If he got the extended run in the side Pyke has im sure he could get going, he uses the ball better doesnt just handball to someone running past every time

Pykes tapwork is ineffectual at times, too one dimensional imo

But as i said Pyke is number 1, the question was who could improve, drex could become number 1 just an opinion based on an eye test not just reading the stat sheet

Is Pykes tap work ineffectual though?

I am more and more looking at our clearance set up and coaching and wondering wtf is going on.

Is it Pyke or is it the structure they are being made to play.

I don't know but I keep getting the queasy feeling Dew to Adelaide might not have been so bad.

Either that or I need a donut that have just arrived in the staff room....ima do that.

I think one of the NEAFL ruckman will step in in Pyke injured and not derx and will be hard to remove.

I am all over Hewett bandwagon!!! I think robinson and Perris will have silly seasons in the NEAFL and still wont get a game and VIC clubs will be like wtf.

Heeney to have similar role to mcglynn to start, and is similar to parker a really solid overhead mark, so take some grabs at half forward. I think cunningham may move to wing no h/f and jetts will spend some time in NEAFL.

Might have something to do with Tudor and Stone

I think there are more players than spaces available. I'm surprised we're not fielding offers for more of our depth players

I have no doubt Hewett, Jones, Heeney, Rohan and Mitchell could seriously step it up but who's being dropped for them? I think Robinson will absolutely kill the NEAFL this year and Mills (kid is an absolute gun - 250 gamer in the making) will make Heeney's U18 year look ordinary.

I think Jetta and Shaw will hit lulls in form or have injuries and never make it back into the team (see ROK and LRT) and Goodes and McVeigh are going to be seriously pushed for their spots but will get by on reputation

Of the players that get opportunities it's a given that Mitchell will step up and I think Hewett will get a run late in the year and absolutely smash it. Rohan and Parker will improve.... and we're going to have a massive off season next year - we'll be big movers in the trade period, we'll do anything to make sure Mills and Dunkley are ours.

Reading through the thread I am wondering who is going to be dropped for all the step ups?

Have a feeling JMc will move to the backline to fill the hole left by Eski departing, and Tom Mitchell to have a breakout year in the midfield taking the spot vacated by JMc.

I said Cunningham was the smokey for last year and I was bang on the money. This year I'm going with BJ to break back into the team after a huge preseason and step up to a solid year as a small crumbing forward. Macca will go back to cover Mal's old role. Mitchell will get more time in the mids with Jack/McGlynn working forward as goal kicking mids to add more defensive pressure. Goodes will spend more time as an outside mid using his burst speed and skills but will go forward to upset opposition team balance. Shaw will battle for position with Jones. Rohan will have a reasonably solid year but will continue to drop the ball under pressure. Jack will step up a notch with an injury free preseason. Our defence will rely more on Reid as he becomes primarily a tall defender able to swing forward when called upon, provide an outlet mark or pinch hit in the ruck. Buddy will be given more licence to roam and we'll look towards Hawthorn's multi pronged attack using Tippet in a similar way to Roughy. Lloyd will suffer 2nd year blues and will spend some time in NEAFL or as sub as he works through the extra attention that will come to him this year. Other young guys will get chances from injuries or resting players but may be tried in a number of positions. Would like to see Jones play more as we could use the extra toughness. Pyke will need to be managed this year as we're still overly dependent on him. Parker to take his game to Brownlow heights. McGlynn to realise that it's not enough to get to the GF and will be an even angrier mouse this year. Expect him to spend 4 weeks out to injury and 3 for suspension.

Was this typed up on Punt's old keyboard?

Goodes or shaw maybe?

I predict drex will overtake pyke

I think its time for b jack to emerge as a crumbing option

Wow that’s shiT

we've all been guilty of this, if I was on here in 2009 I would have been talking up Vespremi, L Johnston and Jesse White
White was handy in his last season as a 3rd tall and a backup ruck but never much more. Worse players to back.

I was always waiting for Barlow to become the next big thing

I thought we were going back to back after that game, one of the best swans performances I've watched

i think 2013 v the pies (goodes game) with tippett on his way we were cherry ripe for back to back

then goodes gets hurt v port etc and kept losing players
