I didn't realise how good he was as a junior; played in a senior WAFL premiership at age 16 with Swan Districts and had 17 touches and 4 goals in the Grand Final.

There was huge hype about him in his draft year. Seems to have been hidden/overlooked a bit among GWS' talent pool, but his quality is rising to the fore now.

To be fair there are probably bombers fans who’d deny he’s had a better year than Devon Smith
Yeah, nah. Cogs is better.

But Smith still shits on Edwards.

Yep, the terms gun/jet/weapon etc. are all equally applicable when it comes to Coniglio. He just shows up every game, you can set your watch to him.

Edit: And by "just shows up" I mean pretty much always has a big impact on the game, of course.

As a Swans fan that was there on the day, it was an unbeluieveable performance for such a yound kid playing senior footy. Also worth noting that it was a 1 point victory to Swans in the grand final (my avatar is the scoreboard...I'm living in the past). In the same game Andy Krakouer had 40 touches and 4 goals.

Unbelievable game of footy and Coniglio was in the thick of it al day.

Didn't miss a beat stepping into the AFL and now is one of the best players in the game. Class act.

Sitting back here crossing my fingers that he's getting a creeping homesickness as GWS continue to underperform in finals. Going 1 step backwards this year and bowing out in a semi probably doesn't help. I hope we throw the kitchen sink at him, surely GWS would rather let him go this year and get decent compensation compared to a late teens - early 20's pick next year :D

He has been a gun for a few years now, wasn't he B&F in 2016? (when they were flag worthy) The heart he, Whitfield and Griffen showed against the pies was stirring. Are people still discovering him?

One of those players who could legitimately become the best player in the comp if injuries don't screw with him.

:DIf you had a really big Italian family, would you want to live near them, or on the other side of the continent.

Didn't realise he was only 24. Feels like he's been around for ages. Flown under the radar which is understandable when you're playing next to Kelly, Ward, Scully etc. Probably would have been talked about way more two years ago if he was playing on a team like Carlton or Melbourne where he could stand out more like Cripps and Oliver have been able to.

Scully going down and Kelly missing a fair bit of time allowed him to be their best midfielder this year. Surprised he wasn't All-Australian.
