Haven't caught a Freo game yet (and this guy is killing my supercoach team), but the word I heard was that he is a good user but struggles to find the ball. Thought his pre-season form was mean't to be pretty good, and was surprised Greg Broughton hasn't been playing.
But back to Hill, needs a rest in the WAFL?

If Freo were winning games, Hill would be getting alot more of the ball. While they arent winning, he is going to continue to look bad.

cannot believe freo over looked rich for this kid. might be ok in a few years, meanwhile lions will get a solid 22 games from rich this year & a nab rising star to boot.

Thing is though, if Fremantle had taken Rich, would he be any better there than at Brisbane? Not sure we can answer that yet.

Needs to get his hands on it at WAFL level for a bit. Just struggling to work out the spots he needs to go to in an AFL match at this stage.

Will improve.

He was never going to be as AFL ready as Rich, which is why it was a surprise to some when Freo picked him. I always thought that Hill would need time in the WAFL first. He will probably go back there now, but he will be a quality player.

He is a very promising player who is more robust and physical than he looked on Sunday. Not powerful physical, but has an uncanny inside knack of finding the ball and getting it to a teammate. Good skills generally, sometimes silky. I'd have taken him roughly around Pick 10 based on who I saw last year.

Not really fair to compare him to Rich given body size, but I'd have taken Rich at 2 after Naitanui.

well it makes sense that a rebuilding team that hopes to rise in a few years would pick a better (supposedly) player who needed development time, while brisbane who may push for the 8 would choose a player who could step in sooner.

First impressions are he's one of a handful of the guys taken in the top 10 who are doing well enough to be playing senior football, not sure why he's under the microscope more than anyone else.

A light breeze would knock the guy over, Class user and mover, but for obvious reasons he isnt hunting for his own ball, or else he would be killed.

If he bulks up he'll be great, if not he'll be a very handy back Flanker

Hit the nail on the head.

Freo don't need a ready made player; they're not pushing for finals- they're rebuilding.

They made the right choice.

Wow is that common sense? :p Surely not.

Unfortunately for hill, it probably will continue. He was pick no. 3, it comes with the territory. I really really like him as a player from what ive seen, he is a smooth mover who knows what to do with the ball when he gets it, give him at least a year of experience, once he's put a bit more weight on, we will then start to see the best of Hill- he could be anything. Until then, like ALL draftees, we will have to contend with glimpses of Brilliance.
(I get this really weird feeling that this thread will be bumped after he wins the charlie or something) :p:D

After the first minute of the game where he got a couple of touches and a goal he was barely sighted for the rest of the game...you are easily impressed
My thoughts exactly - the commentators tried to pump him up but it really was a quiet game - he has shown some talent in the pre season and the Club has indicated they are prepared to give him time to come good.

It's probably because of Dream Team & Supercoach, a lot of people picked him and are now disappointed that a young rookie isn't scoring to their expectations. It's not really fair, but that's the way it goes.

Hill was always going to a high risk high reward type of draft selection.

He showed enough in the pre season to suggest that he will be a very good player in the future but is probably not AFL ready physically like D Rich.

Personaly i think he could be a Peter Matera type player

His pre-season demanded selection. He has had 2 quiet games... but who hasnt at Fremantle even in a dreamteam/supercoach look at things. I would personally like to see him at half back and not in centre clearances yet, he is getting hammered sometimes.

West Perth have a bye this week, so I think Harvey will give him another game.
