He has been amazing the first couple of games. Love when he has the ball in hand - I vote that this tune starts blaring through the Subi speakers whenever he starts one of those blistering runs.

I hope opposition coaches continue letting him run riot. He is a surgeon with the sherrin.

Just absolute class, tackling, pressure, inside work now becoming a strength and the team is starting to look for him in transition... finally. I think the strategy shift to target him on the outside will also be a big reason he will continue to be prolific even when the tight tag comes his way. Hill with the ball and fyfe flying for a mark are just masterful to watch.

And I know its a week ago... but hills laser to barlow against the cats... i was annoyed he didn't finish until i saw that pass... he probably still should have taken the shot but what a friken pass!!

Definitely more help around him now but the Stephen Hill of today, with his experience and strength, would tear the Stephen Hill from 3 years ago apart and leave him in his dust, time and time again.

But that's as it should be, some of the criticism of Stephen Hill in his early years has been so over the top, in a better team he would have had the time to develop while being supported and adding maybe 10 possessions and a few highlights, out of need Freo asked a whole lot of him as a young player.

Sydney will be a big test, they never give him any space.

Stephen is a major beneficiary of the extra midfielder we now have with Ryan Crowley being out.
It is the total equation of the entire midfield. Even if Sydney were to make Hill their focus it is likely Danyle will step up as the speedy outsider.

I think we should put it to the vote - I'm nominating this one myself.

Coyotes are a close relation to Eagles you know.

Last two weeks would probably be arguably his two best career games.. shame they came on weeks where Fyfe and Lachie are shoe in's for the 3 votes.

Test comes this week with Cunningham assigned to him, but his drastically improved inside work and rotations off half back should see him really influential hopefully.

I reckon @Eshed will be liking this thread a lot.
was just having a quiet smile when I saw your post :)
Don't need to stand up for Stephen anymore, he's a man now and in our wonderful coaching system is reaching the potential that we all hoped he would.
He was always going to take a while, so young, raw and shy when he was drafted. I still maintain that there would be very few players who have had such a torrid first 100 games because of his ability to impact our scoring and the lack of quality players around him to take the attention off. Perhaps Judd and a few others but he (Judd) was far better equipped mentally to take the attention.

Ross remarked when he came to the club that he though Hill was about where he'd expect in terms of his development and that he had a lot of improvement in him. He's brought him along beautifully and they've finally configured the midfield in a way that lets Hill run off half back or a wing or go forward without requiring him to necessarily contest the first bounce and let a tagger get a bead. He's always moving now between half back and forward and is masterful at picking his moment to receive a handball from a stationary player or to get involved in transition.

He would be close to if not the most beautiful player in the game to watch in full flight. I love the little kick as he comes up onto his toes to accelerate when he receives. I doubt anyone gets to full pace as quickly and certainly no one consistently uses the ball better.

I called him the chosen one when he was drafted and someone else gave him the monicker golden child. I think perhaps Fyfe is the chosen one but Hill is still the golden child to me. The symbol of our rebirth at the end of 2008 and coming into his prime at just the right time for what looks like a pretty serious tilt from Freo this year.
