He was versing Priddis when he got most of his possesions.

Priddis has b) and none of the others.

Put someone on him who can match his pace, and he'll be negated to a large effect.

Oh and btw, Kerr vomiting and cramping might hamper his ability a bit. That and being ferociously tagged for 100% of his game. Not just "attention from an opponent".

Do any other club's players vomit on the field half as much as West Coast's? Kerr vomits almost every week. This Kerr story is just that. Worsfold can't bear to talk about the loss, so, just like his teacher Malthouse, he deflects. Watch the WA media lap it up all week.

And who was 'ferociously' tagging him? The Carr brothers are long gone.

And back on topic, well done to Fremantle for sticking to their guns. Hill looks to be just what they need.

You want to rethink your position?

:D
Lol.

Right...

So how many teams firstly have someone of his pace?

And secondly, how many can afford that player with pace to tag?

Remember, it's not just his pace you have to beat, but his ball winning ability...

Stephen Hill... Yeah he goes alright :):thumbsu:
I dont know if its just his physique or not (haven't seen enough of his game time really) but in yesterdays game he reminded me alot of Lappin. Hope to see him get the RS votes this week he played well and looks to be a good pick up for the shockers.

Didn't know much about Hill till Freo picked him. Then went and looked at some video. Real talent, possible game breaker was my initial thoughts, but risky selection over Rich was my second.
Freo are known for taking risks. Could it be that one has finally paid off?
Awesome talent and I like the way Harvey has let him have his attacking head straight up, first season in, without first insisting he do more time in the WAFL, learn more defensive skills and bulk up before throwing him into the so called "AFL deep end", unlike another WA based coach might have (hint).
The game has changed and in case some hadn't noticed, with all the extra protection players are receiving now regarding high contact, rough contact etc and more zone setups rather then man on man hard footy, most teams are playing their youngsters straight up knowing they can cope.
I wish Woosh would do the same with a few Eagles youngsters.

Nothing wrong with what I've said. He's been in and out of games majorly thus far but when he does something it is good stuff.

I never said what he did wasn't good when he has the ball. But saying that he changes the game with 5 possessions is ridiculous. He's played 6 games, and for a majority of them he didn't show as much as he can.

Lol.

Obviously not us.

I'm pretty sure there's fast players in the AFL besides Hill. Dempsey, the Davey's, Wocjinski etc.

Give him an opponent who can match his pace, and the ball winning ability won't be a problem.

Besides the derby, he's done sweet FA. Because he's had a player on him who can match his pace.

Nothing about tagging, just put them head to head.

Here's an observation I had. "Superstar" Kerr cannot get a kick when he gets attention from an opponent, and often his opponent will be quite damaging going the other way.

And personally, I would put his contested possessions down to:

a) speed in getting to the ball
b) ability to find the football
c) lateral movement in tight situations, making him hard to tackle and being able to free his hands to dish out a handball; and
d) freakish acceleration and pace allowing him to breakaway from a contest and dispose the football

You could also probably add his deft taps in contests to the list when rather collecting the ball and waiting to get tackled, he taps the football to advantage and then uses his speed and turning ability to burn off his opponent and collect the football.

This thread is about Hill not Kerr. But seeing you brought Kerr into this, we are all raring to see how Hill handles a Kerr-type hard tag. If Hill keeps performances like that going, we wont have to wait long.

What a gun, people are mentioning the hard tag. Hes got the speed and attack on the footy for the tag to not even bother him. For his size he still goes in and gets the ball and goes in hard at every contest. Good pick Freo.

Put him with palmer and ibbotson and duffield ? few other kids aswell and they arent looking that bad

Love the way he treats opposition players with disdain.

Treats it like school yard footy. Makes it look like other players should be playing school yard footy.

Hand balling to yourself to run around someone? Get out. It's not the late 80s you know...

Watched the last 15-20 minutes of the carlton game and was the first time i've seen this guy play (missed the west coast vs freo game last week) and i was quite impressed with what I saw. Regardless of his small frame, he appears to have good vision (the ball was contested deep in the carlton forward line and hill had the composure to spot a team mate alone on the left wing near the 50 metre arc) and i also liked his creativity when the ball kept bouncing off player after player in the carlton forward 50, so he decides to slide onto the turf and kick the ball along the ground to a less congested area.

He seems to have a defence game as well which was highlighted when he went to help out his team mate by punching the ball out on the boundary to prevent carlton from marking the ball.

good effort by the lad and i only hope masten turns it on this year... or next year.. or the year after that

He is another good kid, much like Palmer. I did pick him early(before season started) when all the up roar out west as to why they did not pick rich...

Very very different to Palmer. Palmer is an in and under grunt, high work ethic type player. Not so much polish.

Hill needs time to work on the grunt, but gee is he polish.
