Swifts a 191cm explosive inside midfielder who has missed two years of football, the fact he got himself selected is an exceptional acheivement. His inside work reminds me or Kerr or Joel Selwood, only he is taller and faster.

He was explosive, has not shown it yet. Kerr and Selwood??? You are delerious.

S.Hill made allot of stupid decisions and bad clumsy mistakes today. This is not a one eyed view, all the Dockers fans i was with at the game today agreed he was pretty average.

Just because you mum goes for the Dockers and agrees with you hoping you shut up does not validate your point. His vision is geat and appears to have 'time'

So lets compare thier first three games.
S.Hill had 29 Disposals, 5 Clangers, 80% efficency, avg 77.6% GT
T.Swift has 37 Disposals, 6 Clangers, 71.33% efficency, avg 59% GT
M.deboar had 28 Disposals, 4 Clangers, 68.66% efficency, avg 64.6% GT
N.Suban had 28 Disposals, 6 Clangers, 71% efficency, avg 69.3% GT

D.Rich had 57 Disposals, 6 Clangers, 71.6% efficency, avg 69.66% GT

BeBoer has had > impact than Swift to date

I hope Swift works out as he sounds like a great kid but he has not shown that much at this very early stage.

Alright thats 3 Freo kids and 1 WC. Lets add in Masten and Ebert to make it 3 on 3 and check the averages.:)

Masten had 45 disposals
Ebert had 34 disposals

I can't find the other stats on footywire, pro-stats or superstats

I'm going to say this - Stephen Hill would not be out of place as a number 1 draft in any of the last 5 drafts with his skill set. Not since Peter Matera have I seen a kid take on the long ground and punish anybody who dared chase him with his run & carry.

Hill has the belief that no challenge is too big and this is going to take a very long way - I'm usually very critical of Freo but they have an absolute gem with Hill. I would not have a single hesitation in saying that if Naitanui were not in the draft then going for Hill would be a very small compromise.

Hills efficency is bloated by the fact he refused to use it by foot till his third game. Ultimatly nobody judges players from thier first three games, it should be the moral of the story.
I've cut done your essay and gone straight to the nonsense.
Hill's ball use by hand and foot was the BEST of all the draftees, thats the BEST, the fact that his ball use in the AFL is also excellent should not come as a surprise, nothing has been, as you said, bloated, thats just rubbish. You seem to be trying to argue that Swift is at the same level, turn it up!

Swift has done a great job to get some AFL games but his kicking so far couldn't hit the side of a barn. You can't even try to compare the disposal of Hill and Swift because it's not even close.

Hill's going to be a star and all the Weagles supporters who took great delight in 'Freo stuffing up at the draft table, again!' Now have egg on the face which was always going to happen, but I didn't think so soon.

Stop trying to poke holes in Hill's game, you lose.

To be fair some of Hill's staunchest supporters in this thread have been Eagles supporters

Cheers Rubber

I absolutely love the kid ever since I saw him playing for West Perth colts last year.

He is a kid that always rises to the occasion which is a special talent to have.

Last year he came into the under 18's side with the smallest reputation,
having never been in rep sides before.

And as soon as the first under 18 game, when he was BOG for WA he just showed he has that ability lift for the occasion.

I love him and wish him all the best.

He did support us as a kid so he cant be all that bad. :)

A champion in the making, that goal from outside 50 was a gem.

I was at that game and all the talk was Rich and Naitanui, and I cam away thinking Hill and Deboer were BOG...

I am rapt Freo got Hill and not Essendon. I am going to enjoy watching him play, and I couldn't say that if he went to Essendon. Kid will be a star IMO.

I thought earlier in the year, that if Freo drafted Rich, and Palmer didn't go down with injury, they would come close to contesting finals. That wasn't a dig at Hill, just saying that he is nowhere near the development of Rich. Having said that, he seems to be coming along much faster than expected. Good on Freo for taking the punt.

Yep I was at that game and came away feeling the same.

Thought that De Boer was darn good, but the Bigfooty "experts" claimed that he lacked disposal skills. I shut my trap as what would I know?. Didn't have a clue who this Hill was, but I definitely noted him after that game.

I think the week off came at just the right time for Hill, he has cleaned his gearbox and hopefully he will move easily into the next gear.

For what it's worth, I only expected him to play a couple of games with the Dockers this season, probably later in the year.

Please tell me my sarcasm meter is not working

12 games of afl and this is the feedback you give

Rich has played the same amount of footy and find that his consistency has been much better. Can't say for Ziebell because he has been hurt a few times. I have Hill, Rich and Ziebell in my DT and Hill's scores are a like a rollercoaster where Rich and Ziebell are far more consistent.

Hill has been just as consistant as Ziebell and his best has been a long way ahead of Ziebell's.

The kid is going to be a star. Freo finally got 1 right. They said they drafted Hill as an investment in 3-4 years time and im tipping they are going to land a star.

Love him. Is a deadset gun. Will be the best player at Fremantle in the coming years, especially when Pavlich retires. On a side not I manged to get young stephen to sign a freo guenrsey the other week. I will definately be putting the #32 on the back and framing that one for sure!

Yea because I'm sure all the AFL clubs go... oh Sorry Stephen, you got a low SC/DT score.... back to the WAFL for you mate. Geez.... we should have picked Rich... he would have won me that car....

Stupid statement.... Using scores from a Fantasy game to judge people....

You really did miss the point.

deBoar had an excellent game (deserves a RS nomination imo) and has impressed me at AFL level in the last few weeks, his WAFL form has not all that flash to start with (did a decent job on Peter Bell), obviously he's come in and been used as a tagger especially considering crowley is injured. A good move, he's physical, fast enough, can win his own ball and has awsome endurance to hurt his opponent on the rebound.

Like ive said before Fremantle have put their kids in the deep end and given them real onfield roles. Westcoast has managed their kids allot more, both approaches have merit.
