Or pretty much confirmed my fears, the boys resent the club right now and if that spreads it's all over

Stranger on an internet forum "confirmed your fears" and now the sky is falling.

Relax bud, it's the slowest time of the AFL year, come January when the players get back and they can see JLT and Round 1 on the horizon, they'll knuckle down. Best thing for Jack and Ben now is that they get a couple of weeks off.

I don't know about that and if they are, then it may be for reasons other than then 'showing the club', for the treatment of their old man.

Jack seemed pretty invested in his training on Tuesday and as weeks go on, things will change for the boys.
What's SOS going to do; Tell his kids to shut down their performances and therefore their careers? That's not going to happen.

It's simply that we can't manage situations well and everything keeps turning sour. That's disappointing.
Do you suspect we are still run by people way up..by likes of Matho?

I don’t think sos being let go will have too much effect on playing group. They will remain focussed on the on-field stuff.

I think jack and Ben will soon leave what’s happened behind them and focus on their footy. This is what sos will be telling them to do too..I would imagine.
Exactly they will be playing for the club they love, their forty team mates and coaches not the board

I’m getting less and less confident about Carlton everyday.
Just when everything was looking perfect, the same old Carlton sh^% happens with internal conflicts

Geez Smash.....don't be so dramatic mate. Empty that half full glass of water and fill it up again.
If you don' think there is little internal conflicts at every club then you are extraordinarily naïve.
Jack & Ben will be fine. It's a privilege to get to do what they do every day (especially to play for this club). They know that and are good kids that would of been taught to play for the jumper (not a CEO or a Board).
Our ITK posters appear to portray that the club will be better for SOS not being there - time will tell & whilst I'm gutted to see him leave, I support the lager process taking place.
*We have arguably the most exciting & talented young list in the AFL
*A young coach that the players seem to love & respond to.
*Two young captains that are incredibly inspiring.
*Memberships are selling in record numbers
*Club is making siginficant profit
*Slowly but surely we're becoming a destination club again.

The sky is still (navy) blue for me.

I don't know for a fact but there's always some sort of influence exerted from big ticket stakeholders.
Apparently Mathieson did not like SOS leaving our club, as was the case for MLG, obviously.

Apparently there were also people that didn't like us dropping profit results on the day of the public forum. Go figure.
One thing fir sure though; We're not a particularly happy lot at the CFC right now. Some may feel they got their win and some will feel there's a bigger loss at hand with the exit of SOS, for practical and political reasons.

Or maybe he won't have a drink because he's a driven young man with outstanding leadership qualities.

Maybe he is only allowed to have some drinks if he is not injured?

Injured or not I hereby give all players permission to drink at Christmas by the powers vested in me by the internet!

No one said the sky is falling calm your farm.

I've said previously the way SOS was shown the door lacked respect and would cause the boys to hate the club, OR just confirmed it.

If that spreads through the playing group 17 ain't happening, we basically have to hope the boys forgive and forget that Liddle and co f’ed up, asking kids to be the bigger men.

"the boys resent the club right now and if that spreads it's all over"

Not confirmed they "resent" the club at all, for a start - "Bigger impact on Jack & Ben than some expected." You're interpreting that to confirm your own assumptions.

The boys aren't playing for Liddle, mate. They're playing for each other. Huge exaggeration of the effect this will have once the boys hit the track. Teague, Crippa and Doc will have them 100% laser focused. And you know what, if Jack and/or Ben are unable to reconcile what's happened...so be it. Neither are 100% assured a spot as it stands anyway, and the team will survive without them whether it's for a short time while they process what's happened, or permanently if they can't put it behind them.

When Patrick Cripps has a drink or 2 or 3 on Christmas, are we going to call for his head? Or won’t it matter because no one will ever find out about it?

Silly.

Statement confirms Jack and Ben consumed alcohol during a recovery period. Not sure if that's injury/surgery related or more based on training/conditioning stages. Ultimately though, their penalty is a couple of extra sessions with the NB's...who ****ing cares.

It's just a fact of life of football lists.

Some players are just more professional and focused than others.

I don’t disagree with that. If they both put their heads down and focus on football now, we should all be able to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The way the talk has been going it seems they were drinking because they don’t care about Carlton anymore now that their father is gone. I find that hard to believe since no one future in AFL is secure. They’re contracted to Carlton and I have no doubt they will give 100%.
