I think the whole team deserves a toast for their performance last night.

They stepped up after a bad week. I thought even Buckley lifted with his coaching last night. I haven't been the most positive about the teams chances this season, and I'm still not believing with a chance of winning the flag or anything, but last night at least showed we have some grunt about us when the going gets tough. I still think we'll trouble alot of sides... especially if they take us lightly.

The will to work last night was night and day difference from the game against Fremantle. It's the way we'll win matches, but working the other side over and had we lost last night, I still would have felt alot better about the team.

I hope the boys keep it up in the coming weeks. I don't see why we can't beat Geelong, Richmond and North if we work like we did last night.

Plus, none of these teams have Pendles.

1st qtr of Freo Match + 2,3 & 4th qtr of Swans Match = benchmark for our season if we want to be Top 4
Top 4 teams bring this intensity and endeavor for 4 quarters week in week out...over the entire season. They also have and play to a game plan that suits their players... and most importantly they have polish and efficiency in ball use and scoring conversion that gives reward for the hard work and defensive pressure. It was a great win last night but in many ways it still highlights how far off the pace we are. Where are Sydney at too???

Having seen the Pies 4 wks ago on the gold coast I know exactly what doodle is talking about consistency of effort has to be there 4 qtrs every match.

Our 1st qtr against the Suns was absolutely S-------- but the last 3 were very good and would be good enough to beat 85 to 90% of the teams in the comp but the boys showed plenty of heart last night and I still think there will not be many teams coming away from Sydney after beating the Swans.

It was a good win. Very happy with the effort and to come away with the four points. Sure it wasn't a polished performance, but it was a tough game and was good to grind out a win. There seemed to be much more cohesiveness between the playing group.

Every game is different. A win like last night is as good as a polished performance against a lower ranked side. Sydney don't allow teams to play an open free flowing game and any team would have been happy to win like we did.

In regards to individual performances, Clinton Young was very, very good. I loved his Woewodin style celebration when he sealed it, and I absolutely adored his big fist pump to the travelling brigade right when the siren went.

Top 4 teams don't have key? positions players that have little game experience (based on last nights team):
Frost - 4 games
Grundy - 10? games
Langdon - 2 games
then add at least 4 players with less than 50 games.
3 players in White, Adams and Young that haven't played together enough for a team to click.

This makes almost half the team.

this is true as well...

While we're on the subject of young..

does anyone else think that young is one of our more passionate players?
i remember last year when he literally chased down dennis armfield (and that's not easy) and i just thought " wow. he reallyy wanted to nail the guy"
and the way he celebrates, i dunno.. he just seems like his so keen, very hungry.
i guess thats why his in the leadership team.

Who are these top 4 teams you speak of?

AFL players seem too subdued these days. Like how Fasolo was berated for his goal celebrations. I mean come on, if you want someone to kick goals you've got to let them enjoy it. Gives me the shits when players look like they couldn't give a toss that they just scored a goal.

Everyone is whining like Collingwood is the only club to have perceived poor communication regarding injuries to it's supporters. Go have a hop onto the Carlton, Sydney, Geelong or Adelaide board and you'll see almost word for word the same complaints about the lack of reporting and the lack of accuracy in the injury reporting.

Fantastic win. Pendles busted his grs out and was the main catalyst in the pies win. If we put in an effort like that I will be extremely happy especially with the amount of kids in our side and our back line being so young. We will struggle against the Fremantle's and hawthorns but I do believe efforts like that will see us win 11-15 games this year which is a good result for a young rebuilding team.

Be very interesting to see how we go against the cats who in my opinion are in a very similar position as Collingwood in terms of development. Only difference is their backline is better then ours

It's the standard corporate response mechanism Wooly - give no information that may concievably give competitors an edge.

In normal life I would be astounded if someone didn't realize this, however on BF it doesn't surprise me at all.

Too many beers flowed from the 1990 Grand Final, so hopefully we do not celebrate too much!!

Age of professionals though, and Bucks....WOOOOFFFF!! Stone cold professional. If he wanted to impersonate a stone, he would give you a perfect lithograph!

We won a similar game to the Geelong game we have this week, last year, so I am totally pumped.

I just wish I did not feel so guilty for being up and about this week, having been ambivalent and perhaps a little apathetic last week. Would not say I was completely shattered, but I approached this week nonchalantly with little expectation.....anyway back to the point.

My hope is rising, and I hope the boys do with it. Reading about Swanny, I hope I do not see too much negative written on him because he did not get forty touches, three goals, and three votes. Even if he did, Pendlebury and Beams would have gone three and two last night anyway.

Nobody wins a Brownlow getting one vote. Well.....Chris(t) Judd might, if the umpires just give them away ;)

If we remain composed, and we just plunge ourselves headlong into contests, keep the tackling and intensity up, this is not the Geelong team of 2008 and 2009, and as Arnold said "if it bleeds, you can kill it"

Or was that Lethal.....
