So, grand final day i see him kick one of the vital goals of the day for the WCE in the final minutes ....

I always thought he was still in development at sandy? Dont get to watch the VFL really at all... this young fella had a bit of steven tingay about him, was a fan, hope the kid goes well! So, what exactly happened with him?

I rated Army I really did.
Unfortunately he wouldn't make our best 22 and makes WCE's because he gives a lot of defensive pressure and still can kick goals.

A lot of people have the impression that because he played in a premiership team this year that we made a big mistake delisting him but its just not true.

He was never and still wouldnt be a best 22 selection, but I'm pleased to see him do well somewhere else, happier than I was than when Jolly won it.

Given the username, i was clearly a fan, but he was a genuine depth player and essentially took Sampi's spot in WCE. So in effect he was competing for Davey's spot at Melbourne. Congrats to him, shows that if you're in the right place at the right time, then anything can happen...

Sampi was struggling with form and fitness all year, so that gave way for Army to take his position. Will be interesting to see how he goes next year.

Happy for him but not sorry to lose him, he wouldn't get a game for us. He seems to be going through a case of 'he's won a premiership medal so it must've been stupid to let him go' which is quite simply rubbish.

I think the main argument would be

"He's in the best 22 of the best team in the AFL atm... so he should be in your starting 22"

of course this isnt' always true, but yeh.

He is in the best 22 as the number one crumbing forward.

As StingaArmstrong said, he competed with Sampi for that role in the West Coast side. Perhaps if Phil Matera didn't retire, Armstrong would never have even got a game or even have been re-drafted by West Coast.

At Melbourne, Armstrong was competing with Davey for the crumbing role and he was never going to win it.
