Steve Hocking Gone

Hocking didn't start until 2018. Two days after the 2017 GF Salty was moaning that Richmond's style was "a problem" for the AFL (despite 16 goals in the GF). Richmond hits the top of the ladder in late April 2018 and all of a sudden the media led by Mince Whateley has made "state of the game" the dominant talking point, with Robbo nodding assuredly to the suggestion that the game desperately needed rule changes.

Three years later and 2019-20-21 are the three lowest-scoring seasons since 1967.

Forgive my distrust of everything to do with Geelong and the AFL.

He was appointed in August of 2017.
‘Distrust’ of Geelong 😂😂😂😂

No, the same rule changes that landed you 'kickers' like Higgins, Smith and a hit up target like Cameron, when kicking became the most important element of the game.

Yeah it’s only under Hocking’s watch that kicking has become an element of football

To be honest I don't get the Hocking hate. I thought the rules he introduced this year have been moderately successful.
It’s just funny to listen to. Like Steve Hocking goes out on his own and makes these rules all by himself to undermine one club all the while trying to manipulate everything to improve Geelong…..he’s not Eddie

Based on the MRP, I am not convinced he was ever off the Geelong payroll at any time.
do you think Geelong being the most suspended team was his way of hiding his clear and obvious bias towards Geelong?

At least he achieved his main goals which were to blunt Richmond’s illegal tactics and reduce them to a mediocre team, in the process infuriating their insufferable supporters. For that alone, supporters of 17 other clubs on BF will be eternally grateful.
If Richmond's tactics were "illegal", they wouldn't have needed to bring in new rules to blunt them

people don't like change, bringing in rules to protect the head (and the AFL from future legal liability) are seen as a direct assault on a Richmond dynasty for some reason

Not mediocrity just back to ninth just to keep em interested for lulz. Mission accomplished
