More scar tissue in his ankle, and apparently looks like he will be hampered by it for the rest of his career.
Frustrating and shocking news.

Its in the herald sun for those who want to read.

Frustrating yes, shocking no, its already be well reported that his ankle condition is chronic and that he will always have set-backs like this.

Mark Thompson did say in an interview a couple of weeks ago that 'Dog' would struggle to play an entire season from now on.I think he suggested you might get about 18 games a year [H&A] out of him.

I'm willing to donate one of my ankles to Dog for the betterment of the Geelong Football Club or if it's just some ligaments and tissue that he needs then so be it.

Just to see him have a full season it would be well worth it.

Wouldn't read to much into that article, Scot Gullan obviously couldn't be bothered filing a story from Melbourne so he knocked this up from home. Old news really, he is in far better shape than he was this time last year. Limited yes, but by no means crippled.

Seconded. I'm salivating at the idea of him playing a full season at his full potential. Unfortunately if it's as bad as they say, we may never see it :(

Well he was involved in most of the skills training when I went there early Jan including running and contested work so it is probably more of a beat up than anything.

I think we have to resign to the fact that he probably wont play 6 or so games on the trot but I'm sure we can manage him that way to get the most out of him when required.

If we can get 18 games and around 30 goals then it's still a damn good input.

Well said!

Everyone is aware that is ankles will give him trouble so how is that news? I would have been a little disapointed if Steve had played NAB cup. This guy is that talented he could step strait into the team come Round 1.

Why risk injury prior to the season with such a talented player. Get him involved in 1-2 practice matches and leave it at that.

Wouldn't read much into the article. This paragraph sums up the level of insight for me:

He knew he had the talent to cure his goalkicking problems, but once again the coach's dreams have been shattered with Johnson a no-show on the track and Ottens struggling with a serious finger injury.
Ah, welcome to a month ago Scott. Latest is that Ottens is no longer "struggling" and is getting stuck into training.

haha, yeah i think this article is a load of hogwash to be honest, he might be a little down on full training with the ankle, but they make it out as if its the end of the world. And there saying ottens is still struggling when they said in the paper the other day that he was training very well... this guy must have written this story last month.. haha!

with stevie boi, i would just play him in the needed games, and in the games like carlton, hawthorn, etc.. i would rest him, that would be a good plan.

yea yeah!

In the article it says he's been unsited at Pre-Season training then it has a picture of him at training.
and it was probably taken at yesterdays training session.

So all these people that report on training on Bigfooty and Cats Claws, you all need to get your eyes checked. You keep saying he's at training, but the Hun says he's "been unsighted". ;)

It's becoming increasingly unlikely that Johnno will be able to play full season without this niggling ankle injury.

Go back in time and stop yourself from jumping off that damn fence!!!!!!

I'm laying the blame on Mitchell White. It was his bloody party that Johnson injured his ankle at!

:D :D :D :D :D

Maybe he will turn into another Clarke Keating type and be saved for September only, nah old news really, anyone expecting 22 games out of Dog forget it, 15 at tops for the rest of his career along with finals is about as good as it gets,

I would think so. Anything written in the Herald Scum deserves nothing but contempt. I doubt any of those clowns masquerading as journalists even face the right way when the game is on.
