I don't think he will be traded.

He wil probably get a game next week. Looking forward to seeing Johnno in action again!

There is no way Geelong would trade him.

I feel a little lesson is being handed out by Thompson. There are consequences for fool hardy actions and having to bleed to get his spot back is one of them.
However , there is now doubt that once fully fit and the lesson is complete he will resume his place in the side.He is in our best 22 , has a rare goal sense that enabled him to kick goals when others could not.I doubt vey much that he will be in trade talks by years end.Why would he want to go from the Cats on the way up to RFC which is going Im not sure where?

Excellent point turbocat, he is owed no favours and to be honest probably hasnt earnt his position in the saide yet, hasnt been overly impressive in the vfl.

Why on Earth not? SJ is at best a small forward who has thus far consistently failed to measure up to any of the expectations so many at Catland seem to have for him. All or most of which I am totally puzzled by... Heck, he's barely been able to command a regular slot in the 22!!

So if some deluded operation like the RFC would like to give us an early draft pick for him, it would be a trade that surely has my vote.

Righty O then

Grab a tape of some of the games of last year when in a very ordinary side he still managed to dominate. Start with the game against the three time premiers.

Then take into account he is barely 20 years old and his body is the butt of many jokes at the club and is bound to get better.

I think we'll hang on to Johnno for now.

Thats what i was thinking like because now with the recruitment of haynes your forawrd line is looking a hell of alot more potent.

F: Haynes Kingsley Ablett
HF: Mooney Graham Chapman

Thats a pretty good forward line and you got gardiner and that other tall dude coming in so thats why i posed teh question. Richmond i think need a new forward line and if we could offer him say plenty more game time i was thinking he MITE take it

How about sending McCarthy to RFC instead?

He seems to fit the bill of what they may be looking for.....

Either way, McCarthy will be gone at seasons end.

Watching the VFL on saturday we have way too many talls on our list. A call needs to be made on at least 2 of them i believe. McCarthy needs to dramatically improve his kicking if hes not going to be one of them.

We'll lose a couple of "talls" at the end of the year.
Foster & Smith [rookie] will probably go.
Chambers might join them.

McCarthy's career might be saved if Graham retires.

BTW,McCarthy is out for 3-4 weeks. He had his appendix removed on sunday.

Yeh agree on Foster, smith i did a few weeks back, but saw him take a screamer that was actually a goal and think he may actually have something to offer...*checks for fever* Shame to hear about Macca, if the guy could kick hed be a very good player

No way will Steve Johnson be traded. Fit and in form he is in our best 8 players.
He has something that very few on our list have and that is goal sense.
Don't forget that he didn't do any work for 10 weeks in probobly the most important time of pre-season.
I am sure he will get back in soon and be a vital cog in our forward line.

A few comments to make:
1. McCarthy has a good set of hands but his kicking is shocking.
2. Charlie Gardiner is an absolute dud if he ever actually does kick any goals they are always the cheapest easiest goals you'll ever see in your life and his disposal by foot is not 2 flash.

Gardiner is not a dud if you have watched any games this year mate. He has played a couple of really good games against Hawthorn and Port and so far has been one of our many big improvers holding down a regulur place in the side. Also i think he will reply the faith of a player picked in the low 20's of the draft a couple of years ago.

Sorry, Ox, but Charlie is a fantastic disposer of the ball by foot and his second efforts are terrific. Either you're getting him confused with someone else or you know him and just don't like him ;)
