Am I missing something here?

A guy that averages 24 with the ball, a left arm offspinner, that has had success in the Australia A format, and has been with the test squads in the past.

That also averaged 51 with the bat is unable to make this current bowling lineup?

That just had success against the English side on a complete greentop?

................... get him in.

Wouldn't be the worst option, he bowled quite impressively in the Aus A v England game. Can bat a bit too.

Got a feeling they will go back to Hauritz before they choose O'Keefe, although he might still be a chance to play on his home track in Sydney when the series will probably be lost.

The Warne look a like in Smith apparently is ahead of him for some reason. I don't get it either.

My preference list:

- SOK
- Smith
- No spinner
- Hauritz
- Doherty (spud, bowls with ZERO variation, too flat, afraid to take risks)

Bahahaha, harsh on Hauritz. It's probably the first time no spinner has been ahead of him, though.

I'm joking of course, I think he's a tidy option but would definitely love to see SOK given a go. Anything but Doherty, ffs what a shit selection.

Should have played in Brisbane, should be playing now, should be selected for Perth.

It's quite obvious he's the best option and has been for some time IMO. Not that that selectors are aware of it, mind.

Smith in at 6 instead of spud North, SOK in for Doherty. Hughes to replace Katich - who might be finished.

A lot of NSW players, but they're the state producing talented young players for Australia to call on, while most of the others are faffing around for their own means.

Yeah the NSW bias claim is a load of shit. Put their list side by side with any other on the domestic scene, and they're clearly, clearly producing the best young players in the country. Good on them too.

this guy shows how useless the selectors are. They pick Okeefe for the Aussie A side and he performs ok and then they select doherty who wasnt deemed good enoguh for the aussie a side. Shows absolute guess work from the selectors.

Same as Smith getting a gig against pakistan and now doesnt get a look in.

As for our best spinner, if we dont have one good enough for tests, then play 4 seamers and no spinner

The funny thing is, they saw O'Keefe get Pietersen out and thought "Oh man, look how Pietersen struggles against those left arm orthodox spinners! We'll pick one and be geniuses!"

Then, instead of actually picking the guy who got Pietersen out, they picked Doherty who has been rubbish and dominated by Pietersen.

12th Man for NSW today - pretty hard for him to come under consideration when he's not even playing Shield cricket.

Should get more of a chance once Hauritz re-joins the test squad and during the ODI series in the New Year, with the expected axing of the X-man

We need to be looking to the future. Hauritz and Doherty just blatantly are not good enough at test level, why bother?

You have to give people a chance. The no.1 bowler in the world right now was picked for his first test after just a handful of first class games, and sure, he struggled a bit early on, but he showed something.

It's time Australian cricket actually moved forward for a change instead of recycling junk players that have proven not to be up to a required level.

Wasn't Hauritz himself called in from grade cricket in his most recent test callup?

Yep, Gavin Robertson or Greg Matthews was as well.
Can't remember which one though.

You drop

North
Doherty

You bring in

Smith
O'Keefe

You've strengthened both your batting and bowling significantly.

It's so godamned obvious.

This is obviously the method to our current madness,
I was thinking either
Smith + (O'Keefe or Haurtiz). Really the only way you should be able to get in our side is A/ be a good spinner or B/ Be an average spinner who can bat.

I like you and rate you as a poster Coughs, but your avatar makes me want to punch myself in the junk.

I think its almost time for a change.
Perhaps I could find one of Hilditch as well?;)
