if the appeal works and it gets overturned does that mean he will still have 2 weeks suspended sentence and points over his head or will that then be void?

bloody hell poor baker. its like being on trial twice in the same week. why do they do the tribunal at night, surely it would be better to do it during the day.
poor barker nothing

I find it hard to believe that you can get a broken nose and heavly concussed just by running into someone whos jogging at best

Oh mayby is Sheeds Martians staying in Perth on the mission of trying to cause havoc!!

Phuleeeeess

hey Im as pissed as everyone that Jeff got hurt (if you read back you will see me had a go at ppl on here). But at the same time if i had to go thru that much shit and not know whats gonna happen id would be stressed and pissed.

I dont want him to get off but i think the AFL needs to re-look at the tribunal and the aount of cameras available

Its more a comment on the AFL and making him wait another 2 days after to appeal. not sure if you noticed but the saints play WC tomorrow night. its not exactly the best way to prepare for a game for either team as WC will have to redo their game plan a bit if he does/doesnt play and the saints will have to reorganise as well.

Sarbear, you had better stop being so even handed and open-minded.

Fremantle might strip you of your membership for that kind of behaviour.

Just in case you're wrong, I want to be first in to have a b1tch about the (A)VFL.

Unbelievable how they favour Victorian clubs with decisions like these.

Chopsticks, can you please make a list and post it, comparing non-Victorian interstate tribunal with Victorian verdicts - would be very curious to see if you can prove your point.

See my problem is Im not sure what i want to happen to baker

on one hand im extremely pissed and upset that jeff got broken and it happened that far off the ball, and i want him to get something so that it doesnt happen again.

at the same time If jeff doesnt want baker suspended and is even willing to tell the tribunal that I cant see why the general public cant agree with him (being that he was the one that got broken), and i unlike some other people actually respect jeffs opinion and him as a person (i probably know a different side to him keep that in mind).

At the end of the day i just want the AFL to make up their bloody minds and be consistent.

They cant bitch and moan about the expense of using cameras and then suspending people without knowing exactly what happened especially when they make at the very least a couple of mil a year. . . im pretty sure that tv stations and clubs would chip in for the cameras to protect the welfare of their players.

I agree with him re the system - I think it stinks myself

7 weeks is 2 weeks too many AFAIC however can I ask Saints fans if the roles had bee reversed somewhat and Farmer decked Harvs like that for example I think you would want the book thrown at him?

Fair call. If the incident has been caught on camera, from what it sounds like, a total of 3 or 4 would have been acceptable. However, it wasn't, and there were no reliable witnesses.

As far as comparisons go, don't think St.Kilda fans called for Gia's blood when he broke Kozi's jaw. The vast majority accepted that it was a very hard bump, but probably fair.

And remember, Kozi's injury kept him out for half a year. Farmer looks set to play this week, or will certainly play next week. So if the quantum of injury is a deciding factor, Gia would have gone for 20. The correct decision was made and Gia wasn't cited.

7 match suspension stands

No surprise with the decision surprised it took this long

Unbelievable, Baker gets 7 weeks for something that is not even against the rules of the AFL, he did not hit or deck anyone he just got in someones way, any other player would have been able to avoid Baker but Farmer had a full head of steam and thought that he would come off better. But there has still been no mention in the media of Hall's elbow to the head of Dal Santo and there has also been no mention of any of the punches that Tarrant threw on the weekend aswell... typical!!

Original sentence stands.

7 weeks for an innocent man.

****ing corrupt system ... ****ing cheats the whole ****ing pack of pathetic slimy shits.

I take it you actually saw the incident then, unlike 99% of the football comunity who are still happy to throw the book at Baker for his "King Hit" it is unbelievable how much of the AFL comes down to hearsay, the most unprofessional elite sporting organization in the world!!

Will go down as the worst tribunal decision for a decade.

Poor Bakes, manages to get suspended for an 'attempted strike', then has that ridiculous suspension used against him subsequently, then gets the greatest suspension for a decade for an act that was not witnessed by video or an umpire.

Dark day for justice.

ok so we now know the final result.

How do you think you would act if one of your teams most important players were suspended for the rest of the season approaching the finals?!?
It is the biggest load of shite!!

Saints might go to Court ... where every member of the public who saw the incident could be called as a witness, where Farmer's evidence that the contact was "accidental" is admissable and where the charge would most certainly be thrown out.

Saints can get an injunction ... Baker can play tomorrow ... and then the case can be next week.

Nothing comes close to the Tod Curley umpire bump decision.

A dark day for justice indeed, this had better not be the end of it, the club need to take this as far as it can go, we need to go over the AFL's head

We knew what the result of the appeal would be when it was lodged.

The (W)AFL don't admit errors - they lie to cover their lies.

If our administration is gutless.

The only reason I would have appealled the decision is that it gives up the opportunity to have it heard by an impartial party.

We'll soon see if our admin has any balls at all.

i would be pissed. I would also be pissed if one of the players that we needed to win a game and potentially stay in the finals was taken out behind play and finished the game with a broken face.

oh wait that happened to us.
