i would be pissed. I would also be pissed if one of the players that we needed to win a game and potentially stay in the finals was taken out behind play and finished the game with a broken face.

oh wait that happened to us.

Very much doubt Farmer going off was the difference between Fremantle winning and losing. Especially with an eventual margin of more than 30 points.

If Farmer was such an indispensable player, presumably Fremantle wouldn't have suspended him for a quarter of the year themselves.

Did he have to give evidence? If so, could he have simply said he is not sure what happened?

It seems to me he was convicted on his own evidence:eek:.

That's gotta be a first for any sports tribunal ever in the history of sport, isn't it? Way to go Sainters.

Again how was he taken out?, did you see what happened he was the one the one with the actual velocity and momentum so it was his own fault. All Baker did was run in front of him and cut him off it was Farmer's momentum that lead to his broken nose... Baker did nothing wrong!
And the way Freo were playing there was no way you were going to win, You were lucky to get a few back in the end after saints had declared victory...

Im aware the result may have possibly not been different. but having said that If the saints are a good enough team to play in and potentially win the finals series then they should have enough depth to play without him.

Freo struggled for depth in the begginning of the year with jonno and jeff out as well as some other main guys being injured most of the year. Im aware freo had a bad season possibly more than anyone its besides the point. Suspending jeff was a bad move, most people agree with that now (including the club) it not only hurt him but hurt the team and the fans chance for a great year.

hindsight is a wonderful thing isnt it. . . .

um no... thats not going to happen

I hope you're wrong.

St Kilda could do the entire competition a favour . . . well at least the 'unlucky' clubs . . . and have this farcical subjective system toss into the bin.

If St Kilda take this to court they will win.

im out.

Well then why don't we take Gary Ablett out of Geelong for the rest of the season, they will have the depth to cover him so that makes it alright, it doesn't matter that he has done nothing to deserve missing the rest of the season. We already have Goddard, Harvey and Hudghton out and those are quite important players incase you didn't know so our depth is already going to be tested.

What I am sick of is people saying for us to get over it.

Have you ever run into someone? That cannot knock you out. Baker shepharded someone 50m off the ball. You cannot do that more than 5m off the ball. BAKER BROKE THE RULES OF THE GAME. This lead to a severe injury to a player. Hence, Baker got suspended.

Suck on that St Kilda, why don't you continue to blame everyone else but. Except for Baker for Baker of course. Because although what he admitted to doing is illegal, it is still everyone elses fault!!

dont know what the big deal is... Baker admitted initiating contact, laying a block way off the ball, and the player he blocked was injured and couldn't return to the field. Obviously he was reckless while laying the block.

People may lay blocks 10 times a game, but they are usually as part of the play, this wasn't. They might argue that thats just football, but this defense is much like the castle "its the vibe, its mabo.... its... its the vibe". The fact is the the jury found that his block was rough play and it was reckless.

Now if he was your average joe, he would have got 3 weeks, with an early plea, maybe 2, but baker has a terrible record so got a 40% loading instead of a 25% discount, and had two weeks worth of points hanging over. So to argue that the penalty was excessive was also a futile argument because in reality it was 2-3 weeks, but turned out to be 7 becuase of his priors, and his refusal to admit fault.

i think it time for saints to just take their medicine and get over it.

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out toss,
You clearly didn't see it so you are the two year old that knows it all...

That's a very good point.

The real villain here isn't Steven Baker, or Jeff Farmer, or Michael "Amnesia" Voss. Rather, the villain here is that moron Adrian Anderson, who has created a grossly unfair system which leads to staggeringly inconsistent results.

Some acts (like Goodes striking another player in the face, caught on camera) go unpunished, while others get significant penalties.

The system is unnecessarily complicated, takes into account too many factors and is too subjective.

Anderson has to go. There would be very few people with his level of incompetence in this country with such important roles.

If Farmer's injury was so "severe", how come he was selected this week?

Kozi missed half a season and Luke Ball missed several weeks due to head high hits. Neither perpetrator was reported, yet, you didnt see St.Kilda supporters baying for blood on BigFooty.
