He and the Collingwood bloke can now go on holiday together.

Yes true.
However i think you will find that the majority of Collingwood supporters support the decision that was handed down to Johnson.
Saint supporters continue to live in a world of denial, for some reason they wont accept that the dog deserved a long penalty.
Why continue to defend the indefensible?

Re: Baker found guilty, what a disgrace

Baker admitted to contact which although only demeed reckless, given the result of the player recieving a broken nose and concussion along with Baker's bad record the appropriate suspension was given.

Players don't recieve these injuries by merely trying to block someone. Fact.

So he gets 7 weeks for being a thug? even though nothing was proven in this incident.

mate over the years Baker has gotten away with a fair bit, its only under the new points system that hes been caught out

Hes a thug simple as that and if you took thos goggles off you would see that too

I dont mind his tagging tactics...but he broke his nose and concussed the guy...fair dinkum....we have to stamp that out of the game

Farmer is trying to say he was standing still and got king hit.. the tribunal rejected his evidence.. basically calling him a liar then reamed Baker??? WTF

Fremantle trainer Barry Kirkwood also gave evidence telling the tribunal that Baker ran in from about 20 metres away from Farmer from 'a diagonal direction' and made contact with him.

But he was unable to tell the tribunal what form of contact Baker made because his view at the moment of impact was obscured.

The star witness didn't actually see what happened.
(Mike Moore voice) Mmmmm...disturbing.

Stamp what out of the game? What did he do?

Re: Baker found guilty, what a disgrace

I hate Baker and what he stands for in football. Cant get a kick himself so just puts the game down a level.......but to suspend him would be a joke.

If there was footage or someone saw it then 15 weeks as its dirty BUT:::::::

no one saw the incident

no footage of the incident

claims that farmer ran into his "shepard" and was knocked out" substantiated by medical reasons where steve baker has marks/indents/bruises in head to say that farmer hit/ran into/collided with him.

no one remonstrated the incident.

Baker must be cleared in this incident, its not like the leigh matthews incident where there was footage etc.

Bad luck jeff farmer, can honestly say that youre not the cleanest player to have a misfortune.

if it was harvey, hird, buckley, riccuito etc it would have been different.....

Your bias is incredible, unbelievable really.

This is the snipers 10th trip to the tribunal, for 10 convictions.

When coming to the decision, it doesnt matter which player was hit, or who did the hitting. The tribunal must make a decision based on the evidence put before it.

Has there been a statement on exactly what Baker was given the four weeks for ? Did he get it for 'propping', or was he found guilty of punching Farmer ?

Was always going to get an extra few weeks due to carry over points if he was found guilty.

We heard you the first time.

The jury believed Bakers story, not Farmers. But obviously there is more to Bakers story than we think for him to receive a 4 week suspension.

Re: Baker found guilty, what a disgrace

Absolute disgrace. No evidence = No case

How did Kerr get off when he elbowed that guy in the head??

That's right because it happens every single week in the AFL....come on, this hardly ever happens anymore...go and get some 70's-80's tapes and look at the rot that used to happen.

You have more chance of being bashed on the streets of Melbourne in 2007 than you do playing a game of football.

from the afl website:

ST KILDA’S Steven Baker was suspended on Tuesday night for seven matches by the AFL Tribunal.
Baker was found guilty of engaging in rough conduct against Fremantle's Jeff Farmer during the third quarter of Saturday's match at Telstra Dome.
The tribunal jury accepted Baker's account of events, with the player saying he was running in front of Farmer, before stopping and propping causing Farmer to run into the back of him.
But they still found he had engaged in rough conduct, acting recklessly and that he made high contact to Farmer with high impact.
The incident, which was not captured on television footage, was referred to the tribunal after an investigation by AFL investigations officer Graeme McDonald.
The investigation was instigated after Farmer was left dazed by the collision.
Baker's previous poor record at the tribunal increased the severity of his penalty, without which he would have received a four-match ban.
But he received a 40 per cent loading for previous suspensions totalling four matches in the past two seasons, as well as 127.5 demerit points carried over.
The penalty will end Baker's season regardless of whether the Saints make it to the Grand Final and will extend into next season.
Saints football operations manager Ken Sheldon said the club will consider an appeal, and it will make up its mind by Wednesday's midday deadline.

like i said before: to the supreme court Greg Williams style anyone? ;)

Did you see the 17 stiches in Luke Balls head and out with concussion after Whelan stood in his way in R1?
