He's had plenty of good games, cut Betts out of a game earlier this season when the small fwd was in form and working hard up the ground too. That's one example that springs to mind and there are others.

The problem with Dodd is every now and then he shows enough that you think he can be a lowly but viable member of the squad and then every other week he stuffs up big time and the position he plays just doesn't allow him to have a bad day or even quarter because 1) the position he plays means that a stuffup often leads directly and quickly to an opp goal. 2) all he's really good at is negating. He's not a prolific creator off the back line so when he chokes it costs us big time and he's got little else to contribute.

I suspect with a more complete squad he would be a part-timer and perhaps a 'horses for courses' type player - either that or the quality of the team around him would cover for his stuffups.

:thumbsu: I'd leave him in the squad until someone better comes along to replace him. He's fast off the mark, has good endurance, but needs to be able to rebound from the backline better to hurt the opposition.

You won't know if someone better has come along unless you rissole him and get that "someone" on the list. It would be difficult to do worse.

I agree he isn't having the best season...However...He deserves his place ahead of the likes of Peake, Thornton. Bradley and I am ready to give up on Headland.

Obviously no need to mention the obvious hacks: Campbell, Murphy, Browne, Gilmore, Head etc
May not be in the best 22, but certainly worth keeping in case one of our key forwards fall over next season. He's done OK the last few weeks at FF.

He's 26 and has played 96 games. When do you think he might develop this side of his game? :o

Handy depth player as he can shut down opposition small forwards and go with them when they try to push up the ground to get a touch.

His workrate at training is good as well, having Doddy push them in the 3k time trials etc.

Obviously has trouble creating off half-back and in contested situations with guys the same size as him.

Give him a one year deal. He is borderline best 22 (pre-season could well see him on the outer) but he is ahead of other guys. And at least he can get on the park unlike O'Brien and Foster.

Best case: He lifts his game to another level and we re-sign him.
Most likely case: He plays around 10 games through injuries, plays the same crapola. We leave him uncontracted and GC take him or we delist him.

Dodd cops way to much crap from dockers fans. It reminds me of the way that macca was treated..

This guy is a really good third option in the back line. unfortunately for him he is often asked to do a task that he is probably ill equip for.

Well, as much as I hate to disagree with you, I disagree with you.

Dodd is terrible. Mundy is lucky to have him around to make him look good by comparison.

Mundy is lucky to have Pav around to make him look at the same level.

cant agree, mcmanus got plenty of the ball and while he made a few mistakes he still made the right decisions occassionally, he had courage and heart as well

dodd, never makes the right choices, has worse skills than what mcmanus ever had, and he just huffs and puffs at opposition players without backing up his "tough" talk..... id keep foster and obrien ahead of him any day of the week even if they do get injured regularly, both tleast have a bit of skill to them.... dodd drives me insane :(

Is Broughton tall/strong enough to take over from Dodd if we run him off?
Obviously when the Genius comes back in we need to make room, and since Broughton is playing in his spot, who do we run off so they're both in the same side?

No one was quick to praise doddy after his performance against Essendon. A brilliant effort on Monfries

Friggin great effort. Applaud Dodd on his game, now I just want to see it week in week out. Your right Monfries got done over by Doddie, He needs to do the same on the bigger and stronger forwards, there ain't a lot of Monfires.

Check the Votes thread, most people gave him a vote or two. (Some 5/4)
