Confirmation today that Steven Icke from Fremantle has come over to us to be our General Manager of Football Operations. From what i understand this is a massive get for us as his footy nouse is fantastic. He starts on 26th March 2007.

Well done management. Things have certainly turned around off the field.

Throw in Rod Ashman as player development officer as well. So many greats returning to the club. I must take my hat off to Richard Pratt. No one can question his ability to deliver on his promises. It is only a matter of time & we will have the best off-field & on-field personnel in the AFL.

The club recognizes the need to focus heavily on the development of the football department and the need to keep our list of young players together, Stephen has a great track record in both departments and will be a fantiastic acquisition for the club.

Great work by the club. Have to say the turn around in our off field management has been simply amazing post-Pratt :thumbsu:

Well done Carlton Footy Club on appointing Icke.
Two more off field issues to attend to:

1. Seiously looking at whether Michael Malouf is the right person as CEO and
2. Fixing the fiasco that is the Mitchell/Pagan saga.

Well i can tell you with great authority that both are well under way as we speak. Dont be suprised if something comes out within the next month or so.

I can't see Mitchell not coaching the Ants for 2007. Carlton can make any arrangement it wants but Preston wants Mitchell, and I doubt they'd stab him in the back just to please us (but it would be interesting to hear what Bullant members think).

I really don't think it's the big deal people (mainly a bitter & twisted journalist) make it out to be anyway. They don't need each other to do their jobs. Pagan's got a full complement of assistants, and Mitchell's got his own club to worry about. They're both professionals and they'll do what they need to make their jobs easier.

We've all hated someone we've had to work with, but we just suck it up and get on with it. That's what adult professionals do.

This is a huge step towards re-signing Murphy, Gibbs, Kennedy etc. This is the main role he will have at the club. Great news

Steven Icke: "I'm delighted to be working at Carlton, which has the greatest AFL player currently playing on it's list, and that player is Jordan Bannister"
