Trade him!!!!!

Why pay a guy 450k who has no more influence on the game than Chambers who is paid aprrox 150k. Where was King when we needed him on Saturday. Sitting on the bench. Playing on 2 juniors in Minson and Skipper, King had no influence on the game and that is embarrasing. You have to start at the top, so get rid of him and play Ottens in the ruck and trade King for a top 5 draft pick and pick up a gun junior forward. e.g. Dowler.

Absolute rubbish performance. The game began to swing back our way when Mooney went into the ruck.

King definately wasn't the only bad player out there for us but he was pathetic. If he is still captain of GFC next year I will be a very unhappy man.

I am with you. Captain Cameron is a sure thing for next year.

Stephen King will not be traded. I am pretty sure that the cats just signed him up for 2 years again. I think he still offers alot of value to the geelong football club, he just needs to get fit. With saying that i am completely sick and tired and his soft play.

Chambers offers alot each week. Send Kingy back to the reserves to get a confidence and a kick. He may not be as talented in the middle of the ground but he gives you 100% whenever he goes near the pill.

I will back him to have a good year next year.

It's the captains curse. Every player who has become the Geelong captain turns to ********.

Give it to Charlie next year coz he seems to play almost every game anyway, and he cant get any worse.

You cannot trade your Captaon, it just isn't done no matter how bad he is playing. Wonder how he would go with a big injury free pre season behind him.

Hehe. And Rahilly for a late first rounder while we are at it.
Geez, can people just lay off Rahilly?? He has worked hard to get back in the team, and deserves to be there at the moment. He isnt the best player but he definatly wasnt the worst player out on the ground for the past month!!

King when fit could be starting ruckman at any club, are there any clubs in desperate need for a good ruckman?? I know he will not go, but for sure the captaincy will be taken off him, untill he plays a good year of footy.

I agree. He certainly hasn't done anything this year.

He certainly doesn't have the influence in a game as the likes of Dean Cox.

My question is, whats the point of having a crap ruckmen/captain in the team??

As a Bulldog supporter i was extremely happy when ever King went into the ruck. I thought Minson had the better of him through out the game. I tend to think that King is one of the most overrated players in the AFL. I dont remember much of his early days but how did he gain this reputation as an elite ruckman. I tend to think he is just a solid player at best. Mooney provided so much more when he went into the centre.

In his defence, King has been playing injured for three years now. He was a great ruckman in the late 90s, but his body is shot. What you are asking is akin to me asking 'How did Chris Grant get a reputation as such a great player, he was useless on Saturday'. I don't need to ask that question, but I'm probably twice your age. I remember the 1990s.

That is a fair point. However that was Grant's first game back after a serious knee injury. Also he is playing out of position. And lets not compare King to Grant please.

I didn't compare King to Grant. Grant is one of the greats of the last 20 years. A sensational player, and by all accounts a humble, decent bloke. I was just using an example of how it isn't fair to bag a player's whole career based on one game (or in King's case, about two and a half years).

King is closer to the end of his career than a man of his age should be. That is unfortunate for us and for him.

Sorry, GM. I thought you were trying to compare them. Its a valid point about taking the whole career instead of the last couple of years. It just that it must be dissapointing for supporters to see a club stalwart have two underperforming years. I'm wondering why the captaincey wasn't taken off(say last year) him too relieve some pressure and let him focus on footy? So ottens was bought for his rucking ability rather then his forward ability?

Dont trade King, but new captain for sure. If King and Geelong can somehow get him back to top form he will be very very valuable to the geelong outfit. He just needs to concentrate on getting back to full fitness and form.

He played because the club thought they could get away with him playing a quarter and a half because they didnt rate the Bulldogs and their ruckman. Bit ironic Thompson being peeved with the players arrogance when it was a recurring theme through the whole club.

No doubt King looks more like a liability than a leader at the moment he must be carrying something cause his effort on the weekend was bad. To think he was soundly beaten by A second year player in Minson is a real worry. Mooney certainly has play more in the ruck i feel because at least he is physical where as Kingy aint. King has really been exposed lately with Ottens out of the side And if Otto is unable to play a significant role in the ruck we got problems. Its a shame to see him struggle so bad but if he is really as good as he has shown he will be back.

Exactly. We've now had very bad losses against Fremantle, Collingwood, Sydney and now Footscray. It's not as if the warning signs weren't there before Saturday. To me it seems the 2 biggest problems are players playing with injuries (as mentioned above) or others thinking this year was just going to happen. They don't seem anywhere near as desperate or hungry as last year (with some exceptions of course). I can't believe that they still won't man up on opposition players. It's one of the basic football tenets but apparently we're above that.
