So was Matthew Allan once.King isn't a dud ruck, IIRC he was an AA ruck, or certainly not far behind.

Speaking of which, just heard a grab from Campo on the radio saying that he thinks there's no reason why he shouldn't get another go at the Dons next year..........I'm sure we could help him with some reasons.![]()

that would be 3 of em playing for the bullants. We should check if he likes spending time with Dylan and Cain.
The fact that the game passed Campo by about 5 years ago clearly hasn't dawned on him yet! The guy is a money hungry traitor and deserves to be wallowing in the Essendon reserves. Lost all respect i had for him when he walked out on Carlton after fleecing us on a huge contract for years.
Regarding the ruckman situation, what about trading Whitnall for King?
Well it would have been okay if we took the punt on Matthew Clarke for a season, so the same might apply to King pending a fitness test. McLaren will be gone this year, so we have Ackland, Aisake, Cloke, Hampson and Jacobs as a rookie. I think we know Ackland will not get many games with any real alternatives and that Hampson and Jacobs are a couple of years away. So we have an injury prone Cloke, Aisake who should not be a number one ruck even next year and not much else. King for a year is a decent insurance policy and unlike Gardiner last year, does not have the baggage to bring with him. A former club captain coming to a team that lacks senior leaders ... is it really such a bad thing?
I think its worth looking at...for the same reason Keating was last year.
We may be rebuilding a side from the ground up, but that doesn't mean we can't get older guys to help us compete for a few years. I think the obsession with youth, in terms of Ackland, meant we ended up overpaying for a ruckman who can hardly compete. Guys like King and Keating (not an option anymore), if fit, could at least compete for a couple of years while the young guys come through. Barnarby was 30 and I would have preferred him to play on than have Ackland playing the way he is.
he aint that, he's just never fit
