Your assuming we will keep all of them

Agree - but no chance Kosi leaves. Already committed to Gardiner. Blake & Rix won't go, and they have invested too much into Brooks to admit the mistake.

Last-hour swoop for King with our fourth round pick, offer him base + performance deal.

That would do me.

I am down here ATM the back page of the Geelong Advertiser says the won't re sign him so 4th round will do. We still have to draft 3 though so Rix Brooks or least likely Blake will be gone? Assuming we have actually traded for 3 players as speculated

Why another ruckman - we've got 6 of them :
Kosi
Gardiner
Rix
Blake
Van Rheenan (albeit a rookie)
Brooks

There's only so many spots on a list - don't fill 'em with ruckmen.

Ross has said that delistings are still to come depending on who they can pick up during trade week.

Kosi will be a permanent forward if King is acquired.
Gardiner still a huge question mark
Rix is the back up
Blake considered more of a tall midfield option
Brooks is a full forward
Van Rheenan is a rookie

So that's a rotation of Gardiner, King with Rix as the back up. Kosi can pinch hit occasionally.

I'd be wrapped if we can lock away the Schneider/Dempster deal, maybe get Chris Johnson from the Dees & pick King up for a late pick. That will really fill some holes & will still give us a few draft picks (including holding onto number 9).

Fingers crossed that Sheldon & Rossco can get this done.

What is Chris Johnson a 6' 2" Midfielder?

Anyway if we pick up 4 and elevated 2 and doesn't look like we have traded players, how many do we have to delist 3?

Five retirees (Voss, Clarke, Gehrig, Thompson, Hamill) plus two delistings (Sweeney, Raymond) minus four possible recruits (Dempster, Schneider, Johnson, King) minus two elevations (say Jones and Attard, which is the current rumour)

That means we've got one open spot on our list, unless we trade away players and if we're using our full list compliment, which I'm not sure if we are.

I am pretty sure we need to draft 3? But I am unsure if we are at the full number we certainly a couple short under Thomas

Agree - but only if King comes at a low cost. Kosi is a better ruckman than full forward, and I'm confident Gardiner will play some good footy. Rix is a very under-rated backup in my view. With Watts and Jarrad Allen to push for a forward spot, I can't see Brooks playing in that zone.

We do, I think at least one spot has been left vacant since Penny retired, but I'm not sure.

The numbers looked fine until I factored in the rookie list. We can retain a maximum of three rookies, so three have to be elevated or delisted. Current speculation says Geary, Van Reehan and Eddy will be retained, Wall we be delisted and Attard and Jones (groan) will be elevated.

Of course, first we've got to complete trade week, then we'll know if anyone else needs to go. Of course there's always the possibility that we'll delist someone, then re-draft them.

James Wall has shown enough to be retained - I'd be very disappointed if the saints dump a mobile 197cm defender.

As stated, there will be more delistings if the proposed trades go through.

I'm getting a bit nervous that there is no word on the Schneider deal yet. Will spew if it's just media speculation.

As for Kosi being a better ruckman than FF, I can't agree. Kosi is great around the ground as a 'follower', is a great pack mark & kick for goal up forward but is ordinary at the centre bounces.

A King/Gardiner ruck rotation would be bloody fantastic if they can both get & stay fit.

One things for sure, if we can add Schneider, Dempster, C.Johnson & King then draft a David Myers/Alex Rance at no.9 & the best available with whatever other picks that we have got, then our depth is drastically improved. Dempster is versatile enough to play big & small down back as well as tag in the midfield. Schneider gives us our coveted goal kicking midfielder, C.Johnson puts pressure on the fringe on ballers & King is a massive experienced body who can split ruck time evenly with Gardiner.

I'm burning out the 'refesh' key at the moment... I want to see the confirmed post now!

I'm just happy if we get the 20 odd games out of Kosi for a couple of years in a row. Wherever he plays we are a better team with him in it. I still think Gardiner and Kosi can rotate thru the forward line and ruck, with Rix off the bench. But if King's price is OK then I can't argue with that - he slaughtered us when playing Casey (carved Brooks & Van Rheenan up).

Brooks would need to be the one to go before Wall if we get King.

Both the Age and C7 said its agreed Schneiders in Bali and they are waiting for him to agree

Well Schneider might be pretending to be out of range so he can't get traded. It doesn't help the Saints convince him if they can't speak with him.

Attard won't be elevated - he will be retained on the rookie list because his knee injury will keep him out for most of next year.

This was reported from someone who spoke to Attard himself at the B&F.

Geary and Jones will be elevated, Wall delisted, and Eddy and VanRheenen left on the rookie list IMO.

I like the idea of Geary being promoted - would love to have a good look at him on the senior list for 2008.

Is Attard still allowed to be on the rookie list?

I think so, we're allowed to keep up to three rookies, he's below 23, I'm pretty sure his being on Brisbane's list previously isn't a factor.

King was at Morrabin Yesterday at 28 hes better than Clarke if he can give us 2 to 3 years that might be enough

king and gardiner for pick 90?
i can only assume that st likda have agreed to forfeit to geelong next year for that deal to be accepted?:)
realistically, what the feck? is there something else brewing that geelong are relying upon st kilda to supply largesse or have the recruiting staff at geelong still not sobered up?
