Nothing, as mentioned above it’s a football act, didn’t deviate, didn’t lift an arm, hands out to collect the ball.

As opposed to some hits this year which have been called football acts even though they had far more time, vision and awareness and still made contact.

I fully expect him to get 3 weeks because someone must pay every time there is a concussion to avoid future lawsuits.

That said May was attacking a ball that if it hadn't bounced up at the last second, he would have got to first. That bounce allowed Evans to get there first and left May with no time to react. He didn't even properly brace for impact.

Should be 0 weeks... Genuine contest gone wrong.

Camporeale got 4 weeks for a push to create separation last week, so who knows he might get anywhere between 2 weeks, 6 weeks or life... The judiciary is outcome based rather than intent based, will always be inconsistent on that basis.

The question is, what was May meant to do?
Let’s say that he arrived at the footy 0.01 seconds earlier, he would have the footy in his hands. The outcome would have been the same though.

We all know it is outcome based. MRO will give him 3 weeks and Melbourne will go to the tribunal.
It will all depend on how good their lawyers are.
If they get Carlton like lawyers, he will get off. If they get North Melbourne like lawyers, he will have a holiday.

There is no way he gets cited for that, both ran at the ball... split second difference

He didn't bump, didn't jump up, didn't brace for impact, just ran straight to where the ball was, as did Evans

Difference was height and Evans lack of awareness... not having a go at Evans but you've got to be alert and expect impact in this game... it's all about winning the ball...

Just unfortunate really

It’s one of those ones that the more you look at it the worse it gets

I really dont think there was malice in it. But the impact is obviously severe so if it’s rated careless it’s 3 minimum.

It was just brave from Evans and unlucky for may

Based on Mansell v Aish, May will be getting 3 weeks.

But if players are being suspended purely based on the way the ball bounce, then we're not having a serious enough conversation around this topic. David King usually goes pretty hard with these kind of incidents, but not enough people really push back with well thought out points, so its hard to get a nuanced conversation.

If i'm not mistaken, neuroscience will tell you that it takes 1s-1.5s for the body to consciously act once it is aware, and it definitely takes less time for a ball to bounce in a certain player's direction that ultimately determines if a player is suspended or not.

4 weeks, not even remotely disputable. Evans has collected the ball two metres ahead of him, looks up, straight lines him, drops the shoulder and flourishes the elbow on the way out after he’s finished wiping Evans off the face of the planet.
