I'll say it.

If you kick and hit two blokes in the head so hard one of them starts fitting, the other has almost certainly permanent vision damage, and both spend long periods of time in hospital - the assailants are going to prison.

Given an eye-witness has already testified May threw the punch that started it - he is in serious bother.

That statement alone gets May jail time.

What's wrong with the bloke that he has to punch on all the time?
Dane Swan never got any jail time after him and his mates put someone in a coma.

AFL players have a different set of rules.

Dion is such a nice young bloke, a bit of a surprise there.

May on the other hand, has been known to lack self control.

How old are these blokes anyway.

Mitch Cleary on SEN this morning said both Melbourne and Richmond have denied the players were involved in a physical manner. But we’re involved verbally. I guess in the absence of video footage the police would need to rely on witness statements.
Well one of the alleged victims claims May punched a person in the face.

So May either goes to court defending an assault charge or the claimant goes to court defending himself for giving a false statement to police.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see neither party charged.

Agreed. Just one of those things that goes away on its own (perhaps with the help of a brown paper bag).

If May did what the alleged victim claimed then he should be held accountable. However if the alleged victim made a false claim, he should be charged. As well as the police interrogating him and all those involved in the fight. May has history, but we know nothing about the other party.

Sure, but I'm talking reality here. Lot's of time and effort, what's the probability of getting a conviction etc.

From what I heard. The so called victim is a salesman and sold a product to a so called AFL player who wasn't happy with the product. The altercation occurred after they bumped into each other again.
Steven May is a famous AFL footballer, 2xAA Backman and premiership legend, a brave fighter who went toe-to-toe against Golden Glove Jake Melksham at a South Yarra Burger restaurant. If he didn't know who his clientele was, who he was trying to rob, that's kind of on him.

As a said earlier, I’d be surprised if it goes any further. 1.30am in the morning with some drunk youngsters goading some drunk AFL players. A fight ensued. One person was left well and truly injured. And the offended party well and truly knew they were afl players.

These are the only truths that both parties have been consistent on.

No one is going to court for giving a false statement in a he said/he said case. Police will rely on witness statements and medical reports etc. and of course any footage if it exists.
