`Hey guys,

I having trouble getting footywire to compare these two players, but i'm looking for a general opinion as to who was the better player or has better overall statistics.. like both at their peak.. who wins out as the best player?

I personally vote Milne, interesting enough though i did notice they were taken a pick apart in round 2 of their respective years of draft.

I couldn't get the Footywire player comparison to work, either. I've never tried using it before, perhaps it doesn't let you compare current players with former players?

I presume you are familiar with the AFL Tables website, where you can look at the players' statistics by totals and averages, and do some sort of comparison?

Milne was recruited in the Rookie Draft (and later elevated), as opposed to Johnson being taken in the National Draft.

I'm new to stats, but i imagine if a forwards purpose is to kick goals, then goals average a game is what stat i should be looking at, and i think Milne wins with a 2.0 average, with Johnson trailing at 1.79.

Yes, 2.09 for Milne. You only have to hover your mouse over where it says Abbreviations key to see what all the abbreviations mean. I imagine you've figured that out already, and of course you can change from averages to totals quite easily as well.

I've never given much thought to who I rate higher out of the two players, perhaps because of the large difference in height between the two, I'm still not sure who I'd pick if I had to nominate one.

Milne was a good player as was Johnson, but Johnson performed in the big games.
Milne has a better goal average, but Johnson has Premierships.

Johnson just does it for me.
