Aww, its ok hun! You will live! Theres plenty more fish in the sea! What about Fergie? That bloke has the moves to please anyone in mourning! :p And the hair! :D

I know how it feels to have you very favourite player injured. As i have mentioned before, quite a few of my favourites have been injured over the years. Just remember Welshy and his OP- i was distraught for months! I suppose this is nothing compared to Stevo, But when Brent was injured for 8 weeks it was also hell!

I don't know what I would do if either of these blokes stopped playing altogether, and to go out the way Stevo might :( I can't help you there:(

But just think, Stevo might end up doing something for the crows any, like Admin work, or even assistant coaching! So he won't ever be completely out of your life!! ;)

thanks for the encouragement Radar......however I am beginning to face the facts. My boy's career is over. He will not only be leaving my beloved Crows but he will also leave the state. Stiffy is right he and "the hack" Even Hewitt have at least one Boost Juice in Perth. He will be moving over there.

thanks for the memories Stevo

Until he announces his retirement, I don't give up hope. In the meanwhile time for some of our youngsters to translate potential into performances.

A bit callous but essentially how it works.

Presuming Stevo goes onto the long-term injury list, do we promote 1 of our 5 rookies onto the main list, and if so when and who?

Parker - possibly the one who would be promoted. Had a very good year in the SANFL last year. Would provide a back-up defender, but not a forward.

Andrews - 2 years away.

Hazell - another option for the mid-field. Possibility.

Dabrowski - rough chance as he can pinch hit at CHF, CHB and ruck

Matthew Smith - Crows supporters would make the Redfern riots look like a peace rally if Smith got elevated to the main list.

Even if Stevo was ruled out in the next couple of weeks for a long spell, would the AFC wait a few weeks to have a bit of a look at form, or would it already be decided?

I think they would wait and rightly so. Last year counts for bugger all. In 2002 Dogga was regular, last year he hardly got a game. A year makes a lot of difference.

The right thing would be to wait and see who is in a very good form and promote them regardless of what position they play.

Personally it would be out of 3 players, Parker, Hazell and Dabrowski

In reflection I suppose my remarks were callous but that is the modern game in a nutshell.

If he does retire, I would either promote Matthew Smith or Tim Hazell. Smith would possibly get the nod because he is a tall.

I was at Norwood last Friday in the stand btw so I must have been close to a few of you that were there watching. Smith has shown a lot of improvement over the last 2 years, now whether this is enough for him to be promoted, is for the staff to decide. Hazell looks a quality midfielder, if they decide to go that way.

For the Parker fans, Sorry, IMO this bloke will never make it as he has a REAL question about his pace.

Just a few of my thoughts.

What has he improved at? It's not football. Not to an AFL standard at least.

Now some may say he was played out of position at FF...but we recruited him as a forward. And he has finally put on muscle.

However, his game just isnt up to it. The boy was in nowehere land for most of that match. I dont even think he kicked a goal.

Parker is probably the best bet as we need a genuine defender, we have plenty of forwards.

Your name isn't Ozzie Smith, is it??;)

It won't be him. He's a long way off making the list again IMO.

I didn't pick Parker up as being too slow, although he is not a ballerina when he runs. I was very critical of his decision making on Friday night.

Hazell is neat. Very neat. So neat that you don' t really notice him - but he can play. He's a chance.

Yeah he got one Jerome. Down the school end. Took a nice mark and banged it through from around 50 out on a reasonable angle. Nice kick. 2nd quarter I think it was.

Only touched leather one other time for the whole game - a handball.

Macca23...Ok I can understand your anger at Smith but he has matured body wise, he can get to the contest, I think he does the little things now whereas 2 years ago he was gawky and rather thin. I think he is another Perrie, just needs some more time and a wake up call which he got by being delisted. I think he has the talent to make it but some realise it quicker than others.

Stiffy18... Sorry but Parker is TOO SLOW. This lad I feel for. Played senior footy for Subiaco and then not drafted, comes over here and gets over-looked...Pace is the reason. he has the smarts but same as what will keep Rutten from ever really making it. Lack of Pace.

Feel free to disagree with me but those are my thoughts.

His body looked great on Friday - it was the best thing about Smith.

I know he only had 2 touches - 2 isn't hard to remember. He may have done the little things, and if he did then I must have missed them - doesn't mean he didn't do them.

My problem with him is this. He's got ordinary disposal and he's not overly quick. He's 6'4" tall but doesn't play like a tall. He can't take contested marks. He's far too slow to play as a small. Where would you play him Ozzie?

I'd love him to be another Perrie. That's like all of a sudden getting a good player from nowhere. But I just can't see it.

You're also free to disagree with me too. ;)

Macca23...I would seriously try and turn him into a full back. I like his size and he has got a burst off the mark. I really think he has serious talent, just needs to bring it out. Lot like Hentschell in many ways.

Firstly Ill declare I'm not a fan - too soft.

Having said that - look at his bloodlines - don't know if you saw his father play (michael) - same style 6'2 - 6'3, played as a flanker, mobile CHF - very late developer.
Son plays very similar.

Sorry, read next post - will never be an AFL KPP. He has no, will never have the necessary body strenghth. Don't worry about his body size, its not neccessarily an indicater of strength, or an ability to use bulk.

Bloddline really don't mean a lot. How many sons of legends end up being duds.

A couple of years ago there was a kid coming through the ranks at Norwood. A son of Legendary Gallagher. He couldn't make the state U16 squad let alone AFL.

His father might have been a very good player but Smith shows nothing that would suggest he would follow in his dad's and grandpa's footsteps. I like everyone else would love to see Matthew Smith turn into a gun player who will win the Brownlow and club B&Fs etc... but his football ability so far says he is not even in a ball park.

I agree 100%.

Another thing about Smith. He was delisted by Crows at the end of last year. He then trained with Carlton prior to the draft. Carlton a club that has been a joke in the last couple or so years, a club that is cry out for tall backman. Why didn't they select him especially since they recycled just about every AFL player available??????

Well he is now the easiest target after AFC cleared out most of our duds at then end of 2003.

Maybe you guys should stock up on more Sturt duds, they never fail to disappoint.
