Would be interesting to see Geelong fans talking about this incident if it were Ballaz... Nothing worse than the hypocrite footy fan.

He has dropped the knee, not great force but do we want this level of force to be allowed? The incident in isolation is a reprimand but it's the system we are under which causes the 1 week, he has to suck it up I reckon.

Who cares if an umpire didn't pay a free, he might not have seen it or might have used his judgment to leave it as the scuffle had ended.

Actually if you wander over to the Geelong board many (by no means all or even most) are quite aware and frustrated that certain players a basically only getting reported in the first instance becuase of who they are and then suspended because of a previous bad record which just becomes a feedback loop. They realise Stevie J and Ballantyne are basically the same in that regard. Sadly Fyfe now gets extra loading for a long time now which could also mean another suspension and continuation of his 'bad record' if he gets pinged for the slightest thing.

Kneeing people is a dangerous criminal act, if I kneed a pregnant woman I would be in jail.

He may get off so don't hold our collective breaths. I can't believe he is challenging it.
They could win on the 'no force' argument. The vision though clearly shows Johnson's intent repeatedly, I don't know how or why force comes into it should be the act itself that is punished.

Yes the act = intent.

They must think they have a strong case otherwise they wouldn't risk appealing the suspension. Mind you so did Freo with Fyfe.

Didn't Ballantyne get a week for dropping a knee this year?

Pretty sure, someone else dropped a knee this year as well?

Yeah there's been about 2/3 this year but Geelong are arguing that SJ's force in dropping the knee did not necessitate a ban.

Guilty of misconduct but insufficient force. Interesting decision.

Weird decision. Should be one or the other. Misconduct is misconduct. Looks bad for the game and should be punished.
On the other hand, this is the kind of report that Ballantyne and Fyfe gets saddled with, a player like Murphy or Gibbs did the same or worse and it wasn't even looked at.

sack the MRP!
