Given all the circumstances Bombers should take 22. Gives them at least something to work with in the draft.

Or another way of looking at it would be.......

Given the circumstances, Bombers should try to get as much as they possibly can. Gives them the best possible to work with in the draft. If the best possible ends up being pick 22, then so be it, but why not at least try to get better? 3 week trade period remember?

Yeh Gumby is comparable to Tomapork at this stage (if his back doesn't get fixed)

Valid point, I guess the balance would be not to push too hard, incase the Bulldogs say they won't deal and then try and push Crameri to the PSD.

It is but but 22 will most likely slide down to 25/26 in a shallow draft after the compo picks are handed out.

Unless there is a player at 22 that Essendon really wants then they will not accept it.

I guess that is understandable but 22(or a mid 20s pick) would still be preferable to nothing wouldn't it? With the reports that Daisy's compo will likely be after their first pick (10 and 11 I read), all the picks after that will get pushed back. Then you need to factor in Buddy's compo too I suppose.

I'm sure that if it became increasingly likely no other deal could be reached, the people in charge would bite the bullet and take 22.

22 (if you get it) would be your first pick wouldn't it? (unless other trades are made).

Gumby has been injury free for the last two years. Missed two games on average in 2012 and 2013 with niggles.

Yes, the problem is that the exposed form revealed he is something of a potatoe. Would have been better off not playing and then other clubs could have played the 'maybe' game and talk themselves into a trade.

He's a mobile, 200cm forward who can take a grab, and has shown in in patches he can perform at senior level. I don't think anybody's saying he's worth a huge amount, but he's got some value. He'll be on an AFL list next year IMO.

Spud is harsh. And even if he never got a kick with his injury issues it wouldn't surprise me he's missed so much footy.

But 12 goals in 7 games (6 if you take out the wet night in Sydney where he didn't get near it), 5 marks a game and only played 2 games in a row before being squeezed out of the side. And he's 25 and as ready to go as he'll ever be.

I don't expect him to be a star but on the eye test to me he still looks like he has what it takes to get the job done. Moves well enough, takes a great grab and can actually kick which has him above a whole other bunch of key forwards. Problem with his size he's probably too big if you've got 2 rucks and another genuine sized key forward which is why he didn't get games at Essendon. Don't really want to ruck him with his injury problems.

If Hampson went for pick 28 then I still think Gumby is worth a top 40 pick at least. Carlton will be relying on Waite, Freo on Pavlich, even Geelong putting a lot of faith in Hawkins with his own back problems. I wouldn't mind having Gumby on my list as the back up key forward.

Injury free for two years and managed 13 games out of 44 at AFL level.

Given you had no forward kick more than 32 goals in a year in those two seasons it's hardly a ringing endorsement.

But he's a required player, so it looks like he'll be staying at Essendon Bendigo. Likewise Leroy. Not even sure why Dodoro is wasting his time attending trade week with all these 'required' players.

Being out of contract, Crameri is worth no more than pick 22 in the current environment and circumstances. Dogs don't mess around at trade week, they make an offer (usually generous) and get the deal done. If the offer of pick 22 isn't taken, Dogs will get to work with other clubs and on other trades as there are numerous other deficiencies on our list that need to be rectified.

If the Dogs have indeed made an offer, I'm sure they'll let Essendon know if / when it's coming off the table.

Exactly. No-one is going to fall over themselves to get this guy. A pick post 40s (pretty much worthless in this year's draft) would be the best you could hope for.

If he wasn't injured, then he just isn't good enough obviously as he couldn't regularly crack the best 22.

He's not that good.

I think he's perfect position is the KP who pinch hits in the ruck.

Definitely had more trade currency at the end of 2012. I am still surprised that Gumby hasn't been linked to Power - They are crying out for a power forward.

We didnt give him a lot of opportunities. Hurley, Crameri and whoever we rested in ruck was our preferred option. Gumby came in when a)one of those was injured and b)we didnt opt to give JD a run.
Personally, i'd like to keep gumbleton and replace Crameri's spot with him. He is a perfect FF target and we really lack that at the moment.

Connors confident Crameri will land at the Bulldogs... will go to the pre-season draft unless Dons-Dogs can finalise a deal.

Connors is the best in the business at getting his players to their preferred destinations. This is the guy that engineered the pies drafting Ball at pick 30. He also got Judd to Carlton without then having to use the nol1 pick that the Eagles were demanding. Essendon had best take the offered pick or lose him for nothing.
