Have you watched JJ play at all? Have you seen his composure, his line breaking, his run and carry, his defensive efforts, his general all round smart play?

We're lacking in quality line breaking HBF's, of which JJ is one. He is most certainly worth more than pick 44.

I'm actually one of the people that believe Crameri is worth closer to pick 19ish. But we don't have that so pick 22 is our best offer.

A deal will happen, it may require a 3rd party, so why not try to land Montagna with it?

WB - Crameri, #44 (from Ess), #17 (from St K)

We're not going to give up pick 4. In essence there St Kilda get pick 4 for Montagna and 17. They'd be laughing.

Essendon meh. They lose pick 44 but that isn't exactly a great pick AND they get Montagna. They will lose Crameri anyway so what does it matter.

Why would we give up pick 4?

Also Jay Clark said that the Montagna deal is dead. Was never really alive anyway.

No, St K give away pick 17 to the WB to compensate for them trading their pick 4.
Therefore, Bulldogs get a 1st round pick and the fwd they're chasing. Saints are rebuilding (#4) and Ess get another badly needed midfielder. I think that is reasonable.

Yes pick 17 and Crameri is quite adequate compensation for losing pick 4. Not.

Not a chance in hell the dogs would do that. Just Crameri in the PSD for nothing.

A sample of the players that we might get with pick 4: Aish, Kelly, Scharenberg, Billings

A sample of the players that we might get with pick 18: Dumont, Gardiner, Hartung.

Crameri we can get with pick 22 or through the PSD. So I know which one we would prefer.

Case in point, no pick 4 for Saints.

Crameri is worth a 1st round pick, is all I am getting at.

With the position Ess are in (expected finals), pick 22 will not help them greatly, especially at the expense of their leading goalkicker, hence why they have not completed the deal. What they would have to do is trade pick 22 (WB's offer) to get a decent midfielder, so that will take more time and consideration.

But I can see why you would not want to lose pick 4.

Exactly, which is why Essendon should just take pick 22, because they're not getting a better offer.

The thing is, Essendon have no power here. Crameri is going and will go to the PSD. If pick 22 isn't enough then they need to make a speculative deal happen in order to save themselves.

Pick 22 is still a massive upgrade on what you have anyway

It's in the WB best interest to get the deal done in trade week too. IMO Crameri is worth a bit more than pick 22 (around pick 15-18) and I've read a lot of people saying the sam thing. Either we get another club in this trade to move the pick up or we add something extra to sweeten the deal.

I think he will get to the Dogs at 4 - who will pick up a palyer for 1.8 million that does not want to play for the club? Luke Ball was passed on by every AFL club after he nominated the Pies.

The majoirty of the time the player gets to where they want. This looks no different.

'A first round pick' is anywhere from 1-18, and in 2013 will be more like anywhere from 1-23 depending on what compo picks are handed out. A lot of difference between the value of picks 1 and 23.

Crameri isn't worth pick 4. Not even close. If you wanted to trade him for pick 4, you'd have to give up pick 5-10 in return - which you don't have.

Pick 22 is a fair trade under the circumstances.

Bulldogs should just continue to play hard ball.. Essendon are really in a lose-lose position, go too hard for first round pick and it's the PSD. Craemari isn't worth a top 10 pick, mid 20s maybe. Pick 22 is the fairest option.

Ah, I meant to quote the person who proposed the idea. Point stands, why would we bother to help them get a player when they've been ****ing about with us?
