People complain about Bevan batting slowly, have a look at the Canadian opener Maraj, faced 123 balls and scored only 33 runs at a strike rate of 26. Could be a case of slowest 50 ever, if he can make it before the 50 overs are up!

There'd be a huge difference in the standard of Australian & Canadian cricket.

Although it must have been painful to watch, I think the Canadians might be able to take a few positives out of the loss against SAF.

They didn't get bowled out in their 50 overs - this might not matter too much when they still get beaten by 100+ runs - but at least it was one way for their batsmen to get a combined 50 overs facing a pretty decent attack. Although some of their players do play/have played to First Class standard, most are fringe dwellers even at that level, and are not likely to get an extended hit against bowlers the quality of Pollock and Donald.

Also, with the above being partly in mind, perhaps it was thought that making 250+ simply wasn't going to happen if Davison couldn't arse another quickfire century, and that they'd make more runs playing a risk-free innings than going the tonk and being bowled out for 36 again.

As Canada, they are currently unable to take part in any competitions as a First Class team, so could it have been an experiment to treat this as a F/C innings once it was clear (upon Davison's dismissal) that they wouldn't win?
