Was 2nd story on Channel Ten News

Johncock's car was involved in sideswiping two cars on Marlbrough St in Henley Beach. Johncock was said to have reported his car stolen earlier in the night.

Johncock was supposedly angry and argued with the police when the came to interview him at 130am and he was arrested but the charges were later dropped with police cautioning him. I think he was arrested due to his behaviour when being interviewed.

Not sure on the arrest charge and remember this is all allegedly.

Perhaps they suggested he was involved when his car had been stolen.

No-one likes being interviewed by the fuzz at that time in the morning.

Storm in a tea-cup.

Correct - and the club is not happy with the media beat up.

Charged with

- making a false stolen vehicle report

- driving with undue care

- failing to truly answer

No DUI charge. He just might have got lucky.

Well they better shut up, it's not a storm in a teacup, it's serious now.

*Charged with giving a false statement
*Charged with driving without due care
*Charged with something else

Will face Port Adelaide Magistrates Court.

Sounds like he pretended someone had stolen his car when it was his car busted driving recklessly.

A very stupid boy it seems.

Loss of licence and a rather large fine.

Whilst it could be worse with a DUI charge or someone was killed, apparantly someone in the parked cars was injured. The worse thing about this was fleeing the incident.

Leaving the scene of an accident is a serious offense, especially if someone was hurt. I hope it is not true. :(

How many times does he have to be told not to hang out with those Burgoyne boys.

Silly, silly boy. I bet that Port Adelaide magistrate throws the book at him.

If what has been alleged is true, he should have the book thrown at him, just like anyone else.

I LOVE Johncock as a player but that deserves severe punishment.

Throw the book at him

Well said Stiffy

If this had been a Port Player all hell would have broken over the issue - the fact it's a beloved son of the Crows gets some token coments.

If you are going to be vitriolic towards Power players you have to be even handed and apply the same principles to Crows players.

Stiffy by the sounds ( and it's still a lot of innuendo from press and we know how accurate they are) has been not a little stupid but monumentally stupid - not one mistake but a series of mistakes that will dash future leadership aspirations.

Apparently (according to Melb Radio) he ONLY changed his version to the police after meeting with club officials this morning.

Not smart Stiffy Johncock

He will get the same preferentual treatment that Pickett, Borgoyne and other members of Adelaides elite/famous have received.

What are you saying - the Crows get a dream run from the press - gee mate, you have been away from Adelaide for too long - times have changed.

Will he be the first active AFL player to go to jail?
I don't think that will happen but seriously how stupid can someone get. He obviously tried not to get into trouble but in the process he got himself into more trouble.

STUPID, STUPID thing to do. As Wayne said, this puts a black mark next to his name for any future leadership asspirations. I know he is young but there are some things that just can't be excused and this is one of them

I applaud your stance on this Stiffy ;)

I agree with you utterly Stiffy.

I thought what Pickett did was digusting and he got off too easily, and despite what Port BigFooty posters tried to claim about us, I am perfectly of the same feeling about Johncock.

He is a exceedingly well-paid young man who gets to play a game as his job, he deserves NO special treatment and if jail is the appropriate penalty, he deserves it. Hit-and-run drivers are SCUM and Johncock has lost a LOT of respect in my book, especially with his pathetic attempt to lie about it to the cops.

Geez, Haven't you guys ever been p(ssed and done something stupid?
He'll be copping it from all angles, imagine the how disappointed the aboriginal community of Port Lincoln are, and how he feels about that. These types of things are probably what made him act so out of character ion the first place.
I genuinely feel sorry for the shame he must be feeling.
So If you are reading this Graham, (he likes his pc) Chin up mate we all do stupid things at least once, and its how you react now that really matters.

I don't think forgiving him straight away is a very smart idea either.

There is no defence for drink-driving, hit-and-run or lying to the police. He does not deserve to be forgiven so easily. He should be punished and made to work his way back from it.

Yes I have, and so have most people - possibly even those who would crucify him just to make sure he is really punished and then some.

Well said jc67, and if Stiffy is reading this, stupid stuff mate. But fortunately there was no real damage other than to your own reputation, and as jc67 says it's how you react from now on that really matters.

*shakes head* silly silly boy if it is true. DUI is very serious. Yes...he is related to the Burgers from PAFC - so his role models probably aren't great!

Geez after all the sh1t you guys have hung on us for this kind of cr@p happening at our club, how about taking it on the chin for a change?? Instead of bringing our guys into it:rolleyes:

The AFC and the courts actually have a reference for this

Quentin Lynch was out one night drinking and driving and was close to home when the blue lights came on. Instead of stopping he drove off and pulled over after realising he couldnt get away and did a runner.Slowest footballer in the AFL it sems as they caught him.

He was charged with DUI, resisting arrest etc.

End result was loss of licence for 12 months , $1000 fine and a 1 year Good Behaiviour bond and a 6 month community order.

Club fined him $5000 .

I am not happy with this incident involving an Adelaide player , and I would hope its a one off. I would suggest he would face a similar penalty to the above and possibly instead of coming straight back in he may play an extra 2 games with the Magpies.
