So if we win 7 of the last 9 and miss out on the 8 due to other teams doing well and us doing badly early in the season, you'd still want CC sacked as punishment for the first half/middle of the year?

How about we see how we go in the last 9 games, then we'll let the board do their job. If CC, the other coaches or any of the players are thinking about anything other than how to beat the dogs tomorrow, then I'd be very surprised. As supporters we should be doing the same. Leave it to the doomsayers on Redneck Radio and the rags to do the predictions.

But just to let you know, a win tomorrow by more than 6 goals will put us into 11th spot and 3 games and 14% from 3rd spot, or even 2nd if Adelaide lose.

Any of the teams above us are vunerable is they crash and burn. I would have thought that Richmond, Swans and Roos were the most in danger... but who knows it could be Melbourne, Lions or even the Crows.

All we have to do is play well, win, and if we sneak into the finals, great, if we don't, then it isn't the end of the world, as long as we think we are closer to getting their next year. Remember the team that's currently a mile in front of the other 15 was in a similar position to us last year. It can be done.
Amen oh wise one!

Oh wise one - I respect your views and agree with a lot you post. With the squad we have we should be sitting in positions 4 to 6 minimum. We are where we are because we have CC.

I'll think you will find they were miles in front of where your mob are now...There are very few postives about the Freo Football Club at the moment!

???huh???
We are where we are because we've lost games we should have won.
We only have the squad that should be in 4-6 (in your and lots of media "experts" opinion) because CC has drafted and played the guys that he has. 56% of the games played this year has been by players drafted since CC arrived in 01/02.

And how many of these "experts" picked the Wiggles to be so many games clear? How many predicted the crashing of the Lions/Port/Magpies/Saints or the rise of the Crows/Tigers/Roos.

I agree that we should be higher. We should never have lost to the Hawks or Roos, but we probably shouldn't have beaten the Cats or Demons.

I got very angry at Connolly, but not in a generic "he can't coach", "he has favourites" or "why doesn't he move/play/drop player X"

I get annoyed that we can't get the ball from our defence to attack following a point. I get annoyed that we seem to get beaten by the same man on man lockdown game plan. I get annoyed that we don't seem to improve our clearances. Is this all CC's fault? Is it the players aren't following instructions? Are they not skillful enough? Is he to blame for the injuries? Are the assistant coaches not good enough?

But then you consider that we've basically got a brand new backline this year. We've got a giant ruckman who's 3-4 years younger than most other top ruckmen and has only just played his 50th game. Let's wait until he's played 100+ before we consign him to the scrap heap. We've never in our 11 seasons had more than 1 player with more than 200 games experience in our team. Never. Brisbane's had up to 8 at a time.

CC will take responsibility for this team. He has made changes this year. He's playing Pav forward. He's moved McPharlin forward. He moved Carr back before he was injured. He's brought into the team Crowley, Peake, Mundy and Johnson this year. He's giving Dodd, Murphy, Thornton and Polak challenges. Sure, he'll never the team exactly right, sure there will always be people who think that player X should be in the team, and others who think he shouldn't.

But lets let the team go forward this year. Ladder position, as much as it sounds like yuppie speak, isn't everything. Yes, with the demise of the great Lions/Power/Bomber teams this might have been a year that anyone in the 8 could steal a flag. Yes, I would much prefer us to make the finals and win at least one than to have to wait until next year. But I'd be happier knowing that all of these kids that we are playing now know that they can play at this level and are ready to take at least two of the 2006-10 flags!

And Jimbob... 2004, Rd 15
WC 28 points 89.5%
2005 Rd 15
Freo 24 points 99.3%

I'd call that fairly similar.

And thats why you fail!
Fail at what? If you can't see the similarities your an idiot. The year isn't over yet. If Cox does his knee do you still think you'll take the flag? 3-4 injuries is all it takes to decimate a team. Don't you remember 2003?

What a good win last weekend and that puts us two games out the top 8. We roll Carlton this week (as we will) and we get one more game closer.

More confident than ever now that we will make the 8. So looking forward to clobber the likes of Tico, Jarman etc who have no faith and no confidence in CC.

Should be a good percentage booster this weekend. Carlton are useless.

Oh wise one - again respect your views but he is not football coach capable of getting us to the top 8, top 4 and above all never to a GF. You forget 2004 and 2005 is going to be much the same.

This team has the potential to be a top 4 team and winning a few finals games. CC has been there 3.5 years and achieved very little in my book. The CC culture is acceptance of second best and that is not good enough. The supporters who pay out year in and year out deserve better.

We keep him, 2006 will be much the same and you mark my words. The culture of acceptance of second best will continue.

I also believe that the players do not respect him and this is a major problem.

DWAYO DWAYO !!!!

Are you stirring us ? you cant be for real surely ...Even the bookies have us at $5.50 for the eight .. if you know betting it means (no chance)...

After sitting in 6th place prior to round 18 last year , losing the last 4 games (thats when CC lost me) and only winning 6 out of 15 this year , losing to Hawthorn(2nd bottom team) at Subi this year and CC giving us nothing to be confident about , he wont talk finals , and even after our win against the Doggies , his comments were , we want to play a exciting brand of football .. Hey CC its really exciting for the fans if you can play a winning brand of football ..Try saying that ..and see the members get involved . If us (Fans) continue to accept near enough is good enough nothing will change . The long time supporters from Day one realise we have a good top eight list , how come we cant make inroads ..?? I WONT ACCEPT THE INJURIES EXCUSES being fed from the club ...

Last year the excuses being fed from the club was "team harmony"" In any team enviroment either work , sport or military you sort out team hamrony straight away , either removing the source of the problem or removing the Manager or person in charge of the team ...

Excuses Excuses ....

You are another who has given up hope. The boys are starting to get back on the park and this weekend we will belt Carlton. We will be back in the 8 in another four weeks and full of confidence come finals time.

We will belt the Eagles too. They are not better than us.

I perfer to be optimistic and we could scrape in there if a few more unusual results fall our way. But realistically I think we lost the 8 when we lost to Hawthorn and Essendon and probably any right to deserve to be in there.

We need to focus on our gameplan and the execution of it and make the last 6\7 games the start of our 2006 season.

After the Carlton game we slip into 10th on percentage. We are still an outside chance.
Still at least two wins off the pace, hopefully some of the 5-8 placed team will fade (Dees or Tigers???).

Nah, we're still 11th. We missed a great chance to boost the percentage today.

Given Brisbane are probably going to win at least 4 of their last 6 and we're not going to catch their percentage, I reckon the 2 most likely we have to displace are Richmond and Melbourne. Maybe the Roos with their hardish draw and poor percentage.

If we're very optimistic about things, it may well come down to the Round 22 game against Port. But that's if we beat Melbourne, Richmond and St Kilda at home and Collingwood away. Infinitely easier said than done.

They should return next week.
Pretty much full strength now.
I doubt we will make te finals. we can only afford to lose one game and we WCE. Port and st kilda will be desperate to win as well, cant see us making the finals, but i live in hope

You guys probabaly have one of the easier runs out of all the sides vying for a top 8 possie:

Melbourne ( Home ) - should win,
Collingwood ( MCG ) - should win,
Richmond ( Home ) - should win,
WC ( Home ) - Danger game,
St K ( Home ) - Should win,
Port Adelaide ( AAMI ) - Danger game,

If you can beat either Port or WC you could sneak in. Good luck lads.

Thanks for the 'good luck'

Our run home looks a tad easy due to rounds 19, 20 & 21 at Subiaco.

5 of the last 6 games are teams above us.

Melbourne and Collingwood will be our litmus test. Get through those two and we will officially be on a roll.
