Already we have had 4 retirements:
-Fraser Gehrig
-Matthew Clarke
-Brett Voss
-Andrew Thompson

Possibility of Harvey and Hamill retiring too, and apparenty justin sweeney and phil raymond have been delisted.
Matt maguire has been linked with a few clubs but im sure he will resign.

Now theres absolutely no chance of getting Judd even know we might now be able to afford him but we may have to trade a player for 2 draft picks. We only have four rookies but wouldnt say their worthy enough to be elevated to seniors. To be honest i think we might be in the shit! We will have a very strong 22-25 but if we have injuries we might struggle to compete!

Whats gonna happen, are they just gonna use all there picks in the draft and rookie draft or try and land a few more players through trades

B:Fisher hudghton Baker
HB:Gram Maguire Fisher
C:Goddard Hayes Montagna
HF:Fiora Riewoldt Hamill
F:Milne Kosi Xclarke
R:Gardiner Dalsanto Ball
INT:Harvey Gilbert Armitage Allen
EMR:Brooks Attard Birss

Maybe the mods could move this to the St Kilda board?

Retirements: F. Gehrig, A. Thompson, B. Voss, M. Clarke
Delistings: P. Raymond, J. Sweeney

Rookie elevations: J. Attard, C. Jones, J. Geary
Rookie retention: L. VanRheenen, R. Eddy, J. Wall

Ergo, we have lost 7 players from our main list but will promote 3.

That leaves us with 4 spots open on the main list (four draft picks) and 3 spots open on the rookie list.

Expect us to fill those with some young kids!

Don't think we'll be in the running for Judd.

seeing as though that is the list for next year. Attard is out for the year and Hamill will probably still be injured. Baker will miss first like 5 games through suspension. Birss deserves a spot in the 22 and i'm not to sure about Allen being there just yet

Most St Kilda fans don't think he is up to it, but like Kevin Sheedy and Aaron Henneman, Ross Lyon seems to love CJ.

He will almost certainly be promoted to the main list next year, and I would tip that he plays 10-15 matches ... so you should win your bet.

St Kilda has now lost 8 out of the 18 players who started on the field in the 2005 Preliminary Final.

G'day guys, first post here so take it easy.

I notice you have included Gardiner as the starting ruckman. Could someone please enlighten me as to how the coaching staff rate him? Wasn't he only on a one year perfromace based contract? I know he has battled injury this year, but i would of thought his future at the club would be in doubt.

Ill be gentle with a first timer! ;)
Ross Lyon rates gardiner heaps (as much as people hate him hes still got lots of potential) and the one year deal was just in case he was getting in more trouble. But he has behaved SO FAR so im sure if hes not injured will be in the 22.

Here's what will happen.

Out: (Retired)
Gehrig
Thompson
Voss
M. Clarke

Out: (Delisted)
Raymond
Sweeney
Brooks
Ferguson (Possibility)

IN: (Rookie Elevation)
Attard
Jones (although I personally would prefer not)
Geary
Eddy

STAY: Rookie Retained
Wall
Van Rheenen

STAY: Veterans List
Harvey
Hudghton

With 38 on the Main list (#1-#37 + #44)
6 on the Rookie List
0 on the Veterans List

With the changes, 4 retirements, 4 delistments, 2 veterans listings. That leaves a main list (before elevations) of 28 players, and a rookie/veterans list of 8 players. (2 over the limit of 6).

28 players plus 4 Rookie Elevations, 32. This leaves 6 (!) picks in the national draft, and 2 picks in the Rookie Draft.

James Wall will be delisted. We are now building a team around our core group of young stars, this is how the draft is meant to effect teams. We will be very strong next year and win a flag within 5 years...I hope.

We will not be very strong next year BrianSpeaking. Our team is in decline and will continue to decline for the next 2 seasons unfortunately. As I have said in a previous post, season 2008 will see St.Kilda finish 10th at best and 14th at worst.

I would hope that Lyon would start a full on re-build this year but unfortunately I don't see him doing this. As a result that may see us hang around mid table for a couple of years and then really crashing in 3 to 4 years time.

Our premiership window closed at the end of 2006. The sooner we realize this the sooner we can start re-building and hopefully become a serious challenger again. Especially while Roo, Kosi, Montagna, Gram, Dal and Sam Fisher are in their prime.

Correct me if i'm wrong, and there is a fair chance I will be, but With MAtt Ferguson taken in the Natioanl Draft not the PSD, does this mean that he is automatically given a 2 year contract? Or does that only apply to first time draftees?

Ridiculous Post - all of our stars from this year are 25 and under. We've got a great core of young stars for Lyon to build a team around.

add in:
Montagna
Goddard
Gram
S. Fisher
L. Fisher
Gilbert
R. Clarke
Fiora

as well as handy bit-players in Attard, Birs, Gwilt
and some good trades/draft picks (Alex Rance)

The window is still well and truly open

Port Power - end of 2006, we thought they were finished for flag contenders.

Look at them this year - very good side.

If St.kilda miss the finals again in 2008, Ross will feel the heat.

We've actually managed some very good recruiting to keep the team together past the loss of all the talent and experience the past few years.

So what if we haven't picked up a superstar with a fifth round pick? Gram, L. Fisher, Attard and Gilbert have all been quality pickups. Fiora, Montagna, Goddard and S. Fisher have been developed really well.

B: Leigh Fisher - Max Hudgton - Steven Baker
HB: Brendon Goddard - Matt Maguire - Sam Fisher
C: Jason Gram - Luke Ball - Leigh Montagna
HF: Aaron Hammil - Nick Riewoldt - Sam Gilbert
F: Steven Milne - Justin Koschitzke - Aaron Fiora
R: Michael Gardiner - Lenny Hayes - Nick Dal Santo
INT: Xavier Clarke - Jason Blake - Shane Birss - Robert Harvey
EMG: Jayden Attard - Raphael Clarke - Clinton Jones

is just as good as

B: Steven Baker - Luke Penny - Max Hudgton
HB: Austinn Jones - Matt Magiure - Brett Voss
C: Heath Black - Lenny Hayes - Nick Dal Santo
HF: Robert Harvey - Nick Riewoldt - Aaron Hammil
F: Steven Milne - Fraser Gehrig - Justin Koschitzke
R: Trent Knobel - Andrew Thompson - Luke Ball
INT: Jason Blake - Xavier Clarke - Brent Guerra - Steven Powell

---

After a halfway decent trade week and a full pre season to get some fitness into this side, imagine what they could do. Did you see the first quarter against the eagles? What if we could run out a whole match like that? That's a 100 point flogging against an admittely decimated side - but how much difference do Judd and Kerr make?

And factor in that Kosi, Riewoldt, Ball, Dal Santo, Montagna, Gram, Gilbert, Maguire, Fisher x 2, Clarke x 2, Attard, Birss and Goddard are all still relatively young and that their best is far ahead of them, and you'll find that IF this "window" is closed, it's only temporary.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it only refers to first time draftees.

Then again I've read that we will be offering him a new deal anyway.

I think the fact we have had 4 players retire will mean that a couple of players who ordinarily would have been delisted may now keep their spot on the list.

Are you serious? The only area we are better is Dal Santo for Thomo and Goddard for Voss.

Luke Penny was a massive loss, especially give Maxy is winding up, and MacGuire will probably go on the back of this board room split.

He is so rediculously important to us we may as well rebuild if he leaves.

Nexus_Helen will prove correct if he moves on. If not, we should be right. Give him Gehrig's candy as well. Give him whatever he bloody wants.

There's a guy who played in Casey Scorpions, only 21 lots of good pedigree, was a rookie for swans but unfortunately delisted cause swnas were not promoting anyone hence the swans problems for the next couple of years. His name is Stefan garrubba and I think he will nominate for PSD.

Just turned 22. Has had several serious injuries since joining us, most notably a very nasty broken leg.

All is well now, so it will be interesting to see if he has an impact now that Gehrig is gone.
