Stokesy was just on 774 and the stuff he said in the few minutes of the interview I caught was very revealing. Talked about the older players - both the way when he came to the club they had a reputation for not talking to the younger guys and the way in which that's now gone. Said that when things looked really grim, four of the older guys - Milburn, Scarlett, Corey and Ling - really stood up, started talking and directing the flow of play. When asked if last year they would have been overrun, he agreed and said that 'the boys would have just started shouting at each other'. Pretty open look into the club's old culture and current culture, and it just confirmed everything we'd thought about the issue in the last 18 months.

Anyone hear the start of it?

Didn't hear it but it wouldn't surprise me. Moons was rope able late in the game to!

Ya caught most of the interview, Jester. Geeze, a month's a long time in football! Heard him post-Port and he was cheerful but reverential, his tone full of gratitude. Four weeks later and a little cockiness has crept in, he sounded settled and a lot more comfortable of his place within the team.

Questioned about their improved defensive pressure in the forward line, Stokesy proudly declared that, "me and Trav are the leaders and the others are following us, now Chapman and even Moons will chase blokes down."

Nominated Milburn as the player he most admired at the club. "He's tough and he gives it %100 every week, there are a couple of other blokes too."
(He'd named Rooke in the earlier interview for similar reasons, adding that he tried to emulate his aggressive style of play.)

Confessed that he and Kelly were the club's jokers, "keeping everyone on their toes." He could always count on Mooney and Scarlett to provide heavy retribution, "like egging my car."
Let's not introduce him to Shell, any more ideas and her cousin'll suffer a breakdown.

Best line of the coverage?
Seasoned journalist: "how's Operation Keepalidonit going?"
Bomber, at his blandest: "good".
