As an ex serviceman I look forward to this proposed handout!

What a load of crock.

More welfare mentality!
We said we haven't turned into a me, me, society?
Is that the key point you took out of the article?
Good on her, perhaps if more people like her spoke out the government may start to listen.

I read the article and couldn't help but see the glaring errors and misunderstanding.

It is no wonder her family turfed her. Clearly has poor judgement but probably a good person and a good mum.

Which are PR? I'm afraid that your just stating that there are glaring errors and misunderstandings does not make it so.

The obvious one is compensation to the military personnel.

Lol, they are hired with the concept they may have to kill someone, follow orders and serve the nation. Yet she is calling for compensation claims.

Giggle worthy!

What have you done to help the refugee you mentioned?

Have you looked at getting a job, saving, raising a funds for the trip or is it the thought that counts?
I was involved in helping in both terms of time and money to get him out of an Iraqi prison so you can go and get f***ed if you're questioning my motivations.

Not sure that when they signed up it was knowing they would be returning AS back to an unknown future. Different from fighting in wars.
Some might be traumatised. I do believe there will be a Royal Commission into this shameful period sometime in the future, especially with Cambodia all but confirmed.

military personnel's duties include fire fighting, natural disaster, pirate watch, border patrol, search and rescue, hostage release, peace keeping, war, waiting around, hurry up and do nothing, civil duties and whatever else they are ordered to do.

I am fairly confident most have the right constitution to complete this task with a professional mindset. Those that can't, should and are quickly weeded out.

In one breath we here of the dangers posed by the Islamic state and the Syrian conflict. In the next,
http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...return-syria-detainees-emails-show?CMP=twt_gu
The lengths to which the Australian immigration department has gone to facilitate the repatriation of traumatised Syrian asylum seekers detained in offshore detention centres has been extensively revealed in departmental emails obtained under freedom of information laws.

Human rights experts have criticised the actions, saying Australia was doing the “unthinkable” by endeavouring to return Syrians.

The emails support reports from Guardian Australia in March, showing that Syrians detained offshore told Australian immigration department officials they would be killed if they returned to Syria, but the department facilitated plans for their repatriation nonetheless. This included sharing asylum-seeker identity documents with the Syrian consulate in Australia, booking flights via Jordan, and endeavouring to issue an “ultimatum” to force them into a decision on repatriation, despite a number of them being severely mentally ill.
Team Australia can get f***ed.

Do you think that this is a good move from the government given what we know is happenening in Syria, yes or no?
I take a step back and believe the refugee treaty is the root of this problem.

So although I don't like to see people being returned to Syria (whether a genuine refugee or not), it is the result of being a signatory to a dumb treaty.

Nice in thought but dumb in practice. How hard is it to repeal the treaty and remain in control of our own immigration and help refugees anyway?

By getting rid of lawyers, lobby groups and other merchants preying on human misery we can focus on doing the right thing for the most people possible!

What a bullshit answer PR, there's more empty rheotoric in your posts than a Liberal Party campaign brochure. It was a simple yes or no question.

Is it wrong to be consistent and heavily weight decision making against a sustainable immigration policy controlled by the government not people smugglers or the clients of people smugglers?

Are you getting frustrated because your emotion is getting in the way of logic?

What like your rhetoric full of emptiness on there must be a better way and not one plan or suggestion accompanying these comments.

Pretty much.

Has there ever been an issue where being emotional has improved a decision over using logic?

Somehow we need a solution that is cost effect, sustainable, humane but does not encourage the people smuggling route.

Amazingly enough no one (on Earth) has come up with one yet. If someone has a solution that can accomplish that I think everyone would really like to hear it.

Until then though we will go with a solution that, while harsh, has actually proven to work rather then a feel good measure that simply makes the problem worse in the long term. The problem with the open door policy (and make no mistake thats exactly what is being advocated for) is that does not solve anything it simply creates a larger problem down the road.

Unfortunately we have. Too many people want to leech off their fellow Australians. Their only solution is to demand more government services and have someone else pay for it (tax the rich even more) See the wailing over gp payments. Pathetic.

"But the government has stalled the release of findings from an inquiry into the 457 visa scheme after a spokesman for Assistant Immigration Minister Michaelia Cash said only that the government was considering its recommendations".
I wonder why this hasn't been released as yet. Perhaps finding not to their liking?

Abbott has nothing else but trying to use the terrorist fear on the gullible , what those people should think about is

If Abbott claims OSB has stopped the Boats , then the terrorist who would be on those boats can not arrive in Australia

Maggie5 trying to drum up yet more anti 457 hysteria.

And if the results don't end up supporting your view you will admit you were right? Right?
