And that's why we got a tough draw this year. Injuries haven't helped either, as we really missed Walters for 20 games, McPharlin for 9 games and Fyfe for 4 games.

The losses against the Saints and North cost us big time.

Port on the other hand have now seen the benefits of the draft picks associated with under performing ever since that disgraceful performance in the 2007 Grand Final.

x2 on all accounts

Straight sets might not be a bad thing for Freo. I highly doubt we will win the GF therefore if Freo lose this match they will get draft picks before Sydney, Port, Hawks and Geelong. This may be of great benifit seeing as Freo are in direct competition with these clubs each season.

Umm, no. How about we win this week and next week and play off in our second grand final?

Let's keep a little optimism here - we will crush North in the Grand Final.

We're going to win the Flag this year Jedi. See you on Sat.

Last year, I was half satisfied with second place because we were breaking new ground. This time around, there's more of a feeling of unfinished business. I'm sure you and all the players feel the same. We belong. Opportunities are fleeting. We still have a pulse. Lets hope we still have a pulse next week.

I think you have every right to feel confident. I really dont know how I feel as a Port fan to be honest. I just hope we perform at our best and give ourselves a chance. If you do get over us, I will be jumping aboard the Freo wagon to knock off the Hawks followed by the Swans.

Good luck tomorrow - enjoy the game. Looks like fantastic weather forecast.

I don't think we'll go out in straight sets and I don't see us beating the Hawks in the PF or Sydney in the GF.

What would Freo fans prefer losing in the PF or GF?

Injuries and umpires really screwed our season. We have no luck.

Don't think either could be blamed for our loss against St Kilda. A big win in that game and we could have finished 2nd.

Prefer to lose in GF. Because if we get there anything can happen. Especially with the odds stacked against us.

GF no question. Second is better than third.

Any danger of literate Port fans or...?
I know a few Port fans in Perth who are actually reasonably bright both in life and with footy.. must only be those from Alberton who have the defective gene

I was watching Hinkley's presser after round 23. He was asked how he felt about the chances going into the finals (not in top 4). He said Port will give it a go, you've earned it. Good answer I must say.

Both teams are probably behind Hawthorne a little, but that's next week's problem, if either of our team earned it.

This week, I hope Freo get themselves together and give it a good crack. I expect Port to do the same. It be a good game.

ps: on the other hand, don't get your hopes up too much. My team is going to kick you team's *** tomorrow :p:D

Assuming that St Kilda had scored 50 points, we'd have to win by 75 points to get our end-of-season percentage above Hawthorn's.
Meanwhile, a 1 point win against St Kilda, and a straight Mundy kick against Geelong would have had us finishing top of the ladder.

Many sides flogged St Kilda by this margin and greater. We were top 4 and should have smashed them.

Not sure about the people exclaiming that they wouldn't mind finishing in the semi or the prelim. Give me a prelim loss any day over a semi and the embarrassment of going out in straight sets...

Nothing short of a Grand Final appearance is an acceptably outcome for mine.

I wouldn't say a prelim loss is unacceptable, we can't be perfect every year. Last year we were in much better shape and had a good run with injuries at the right time, compared to this year where things have gone against us so often and a prelim outing isn't the worst scenario. Thats not to say I won't be disappointed if we don't make the GF...

But we were far from fully fit in the grand final.
Mayne, Walters, Mcpharlin and Johnson all not fit.
