We should of had them in the 3rd. Ballas should of kicked straight and if Tabs takes that grab, different story. Oh well coulda, woulda, shoulda, didnt

Tabs should spend all summer having finger shattering drop kicks speared into him.
You learn to mark the ball pretty quick after a few stubbed fingers, least that was my experience as a youngun facing my dads stab passes.

Two keys for me.

How we learn from 2 weeks ago, you guys smashed us on transition, so will we structure up differently?

Injuries to your key players, could make a difference, rightfully you guys will start favourites and most likely win, Westhoff should have kicked that goal at the end 2 weeks ago resulting in a 3 point loss.

A bit more polish and it could be an upset.

Good luck, but not too much luck ;)

Let's be honest. Freo was 7 goals up half way through the last quarter and put the cue in the rack to prepare for the next week against Sydney. Based on the last game, that's the difference between both sides.

I agree. Your 9 goal demolition was the killer and in normal processes perhaps a 4 goal win was on the cards. We did run it out though and got pretty close, so who knows.

I think Ross had something to do with Port piling on a few. He has done it in the past, letting the foot off the pedal a bit to preserve players for the following week so I wouldn't read too much in to it.

The cue was definitely in the rack, we did the same thing throughout the majority of the season, ie. Scrapped and contested our way to a handy lead and then put the breaks on and gradually let the deficit dissipate before the final siren. Similar to what you guys did against the Tiges yesterday, but we tended to cut it a bit finer all season for some reason, and give the supporters heart attacks almost all year (the 2nd derby anyone??)

Port played a team of witches hats which has a laughable finals record. If Freo make it hard for them to get the run happening by stopping the right players Port will be exposed as the front-running downhill-skiers that saw them beat nobody of any real quality in the last half of the season. Not that I hope Port lose or anything like that….much! Go Freo!

Downhill skiers dont go two weeks into september idiot.

Port aren't that good. Anyone could've smashed Richmond. They won games on bravado and confidence and as soon as that was broken down, in the first five minutes in Sunday's game, they were never going to recover. Rubbish side and probably the shakiest club and admin in the competition.

Freo should beat Port. It doesn't even matter anyway, it'll be ugly against the Hawks no matter who plays them.

Richmond were the definition of 'just making up the numbers', but port could only beat who they had in front of them and they did it well.

Whether that was good preparation for playing us, in that it was quite bruise free; or poor preparation, given that it wasn't a real test, remains to be seen.

Certainly they wouldn't have wanted a tough match and back it up 6 days later, so that negates the draining effects of a 6 day break a bit.

We certainly needed the 7 days after duking it out in the wet with the Swans for 4 quarters.

Same as your game yesterday. It was a 100 point drubbing of Richmond that only ended up 60 points.

The travel factor for Port is over-stated.

We're travelling back from Sydney, Port played at home last weekend. If anything, we're affected more by the travel.

hmmm, i disagree.

We have the whole week to get over our flight. They will be flying two games out from the game. Don't think it'll make much of a difference, but we're definitely not more affected.

Perhaps. I still think those saying the travel factor is in our favour are kidding themselves...unless Port's flight is cancelled

They'll be travelling to Perth twice in 15 days, the second time after a six day break.

Don't overrate their win against Richmond. It was good, but Richmond are crap.

Ross Left it pretty close then. I'm sure he wasn't happy behind closed doors.

Yeah, I'd think so.

It was made pretty clear that he was content to let your boys come back at them, but for sure he would have liked to finish with a bit more of a buffer - post match interviews indicated as much, moreover he felt that Freo should have had a bit more of a buffer to begin with.

A topic that needs to be spoken about. We don't have any room to move, sudden death from here in. Port smashed Richmond, smashed !! Didn't have too many passengers. Now for us, Tabs, Pearce, Clarke and our mids all dropped the ball, any similar display this week will see us out in Straight Sets.

I take exception to that. Completely unfair. "Sudsy hands" Pearce would've needed to have grabbed the ball in the first place to have dropped it.

Short flight from Adelaide - don't think it will have a huge impact to be honest.

7 goals without Fyfe. If Freo gets off to a good start (as opposed to the slow one in R23), could easily see a 5+ goal win.

We were back in Perth before Port were even eating their last carb-loaded pasta breakfast.

Did you watch the game? Richmond were witches hats. They didn´t run. Didn´t get people back. Often Port waltzed into goal with 2 extra players around in the first few quarters.

If anything I am more confident of beating Port after that as our pressure/team defence will be a huge shock to them. By contrast our guys are battle hardened after another tough clash with Sydney.

How often do you see teams smash some lowly team by 100 then back up with a loss to a top team? Happens a lot. Ask West Coast.
