I've been searching through some old AFL records on the Victorian Library website, found some cool Vivid sportsware ads
I got gifted a Geelong singlet, looked in the old cupboard and lo and behold...

No AFL logo on this West Coast guernsey.
Always felt the AFL should ditch their logo off the jumpers, because the current logo looks pretty awful, and allow clubs to have their team logo there instead. Would look much cleaner, leave the AFL logos on the numbers, shorts and socks.

But then we won't know what we're watching :drunk:

Round 12 1984, Geelong at the Western Oval against Footscray.
Mark Jackson in a 1978 style long-sleeve guernsey and also wearing the 1977-style socks.

Either they made Jacko a new guernsey to the older style (he joined the club in 1984), or it was made for Jeff Fehring (wore 25 for Geelong from 1977–79) and was still at the club rooms. Though this still doesn’t explain the socks.

Thoughts anyone?

Has there ever been more players from one team wear long sleeves than this game?
Thirteen players on the Brisbane Bears wore long-sleeves against Richmond at the MCG in round 11 1989.
Was played in atrocious weather and led to the ground being in awful condition for the Geelong–Essendon match two days later.

The players were, in numerical order:

1 Mark Mickan; 3 Steve Reynoldson; 5 Brad Hardie; 11 Brenton Phillips; 16 Rod Lester-Smith; 19 Scott McIvor; 22 David Bain; 25 Matthew Campbell; 27 Mark Roberts; 31 David O’Keeffe; 38 Michael Gibson; 39 Warwick Capper; 45 John Gastev.
