I enjoyed it, but yeah, the battle with Vecna and the mind flayer was well short and it did go a bit "Avengers". However, didn't mind the build up to it. Although surprised we didn't lose a few more of the ensemble. Could have even have just lost Murray. Didn't even feature the last halfa.

But what a sweet way to end the show. Thoroughly enjoyed that. Great soundtrack also as has been mentioned.

Overall, I liked the last season. Would happily watch it again. Shows like this, with so much build up to the last season, are hard to pull off. It's been an incredible show and sad it's had to end, but probably the right time.

Thought the fake out of Hooper shooting Elle was fantastic, I certainly went "oh shit" when she was in the tank with blood clouding out

It's probably a sign of the way social media/forums have wired people though, not many focus on good moments and instead want to complain about us not getting an update on Robins girlfriend.. Who people also complained about existing and didn't care about..

Would of been awesome if it wasnt a fake out and hop actually did shoot El. Would of meant anything on for the rest of the episode and one crazy ending coming up. But no it was tease. They played it safe for the masses.

Would have made any sort of ending where they didn’t all just get obliterated absolutely absurd and also would have robbed us of a lot of the really great emotional moments.

It’s just never been that sort of show either

Hopper shooting and killing El half way through the finale when nobody else is around would have been good? Spare me.

The noise about this show has made me well and truly tired of the internet whinging and nitpicking about every single release.
Absolutely would of because it meant the storytellers would have had to dig hard to find an ending. It would of gripped the viewer figuring out how they were gonna win this one without El or with a seriously constrained El. It would of meant they had to come up with something clever that would of wowed the audience. It would of meant the viewer couldnt take anything for granted in the last hour. I was watching the show with about 8 others and nearly all of us scorlled our phones during the finale at different parts cos because it frankly wasnt that thrilling. It was just ok.

Note I didnt bring this up. Another poster did when the were posting what wowed them. What wowed them was a scene that didnt even happen. Us and Hop were just made to think it did. It would of been better if it did happen.

People scrolling their phones at this point is a bit of a scourge for modern filmmakers. Not to take shots but it says more about the audience than the show imo.

Fwiw I think killing El would have been a ridiculous move and would have given GOT vibes of just offing people for the sake of it. I don’t think it would created anything but more anger but that does also speak to current audience happiness, people wanted them to kill El because it would have shaken things up but also they would have been absolutely skewered for doing it.

They couldn’t win either way with some people.

Did notice it was pointed out that Will wasn't being hurt in the final fight like previously. Before when the demos would be on fire, he would feel it. He was attached to the hivemind but the hivemind being attacked didn't effect him. I don't think he had to die or anything but I think they should have had him rising in pain when the mindflayer and Vecna was dying then once they're dead he becomes untethered to them(or he dies with them if you want to go that route)

duffer brothers are on record with some of this stuff, for better or worse. they seem to be filling in a few details post-finale for whatever reason.

Duffer Brothers on why Will Byers didn't feel anything when the Mindflayer and Vecna were attacked:
"Well, we aren’t showing him when the Mind Flayer is being attacked. We just wanted to focus on the final battle with our heroes.
When Vecna is getting decapitated, at that point, the Mind Flayer is dead, and so it, at that point, has severed the connection between him and Vecna."

Final episode was better than I thought it would be. Thought there'd be too many moving parts and characters to keep track of but they did fine

I got a bit lost with the whole Henry's house/cave thing through Season 5 though. So the kids were in Henry's memory but their bodies were elsewhere? So it wouldn't have mattered if they'd died there...? But to be honest the nuts and bolts of the plot escaped me a few seasons ago and it didn't really matter.

The lengthy aftermath gave good closure to all the main acts and there were some nice moments

Nancy, Jonathan, Steve and Robin vowing to catch up with each other once a month. Just like old times... we've probably all made vows like that when we catch up with school friends we haven't seen for ages at a wedding or event. Deep down we all know it isn't going to happen 😪

Same as Mike glancing down the stairs and seeing his sister and her crew playing D&D. In the basement with friends, joking around, junk food, playing games. Those times are gone for the school leavers. Nothing is forever. Life moves on

And the Sopranos "open to interpretation" ending with Eleven was well done. During the final episode she asked both Hopper and Mike to respect her decision and one day they'd understand why. Whether she lived or died it was to protect them. If she lived she would be pursued, placing everyone around her in danger. So she either died in which case there's nothing to look for or made everyone think she died, meaning they won't look.

Songs in the finale were great 👍

I thought the actors did a good job at portraying this in the scene. You could tell that they were not going to catch up in the future and this was somewhat of a farewell.

I've seen an interesting theory that the final DnD Game could be seen not only as a retelling of the very ending of the series, but also theoretically as the theory that the entire series was merely a long running DnD campaign. Not something I subscribe to, but I do like the multiple possible endings that can be interpreted.
