Yeah, match fitness more than anything.

I'd be taking the risk in the prelim.
We have to roll the dice with someone - we need to replace that x factor.

Reid has it to a degree and is always a quarter by quarter proposition these days.

Wells has it in spades and hasn't been able to get match ready.

Tough choice and glad it's not my job,

Isn't that true for the majority of our team?

For me, you have to leave Rough, Moore and Howe together.... They are glue in that backline now.
Therefore, you need to bring a tall in to play forward and give Mihocek a hand.

Reid? Shaz? Lynch? Madgen?

There's not a lot of choice.
Reid was also quite good during the year when he was fit.
Reid becomes the obvious if we want that extra tall forward.
He will mark well, and at least be problematic to defenders.

I’d be inclined to bring Scharenberg in for Greenwood as he just makes excellent decisions and gives that poise to compliment the back group.

It would also allow say Roughead it Moore to pinch hit in the ruck or even forward for a small spell to confuse the opposition.

It's be Callum Brown out for me.

Agree if it’s Thomas v Brown to be left out, Thomas currently a better option- stronger and can kick a sneaky goal.

So, I'm gonna throw it out there:

Wells.

I wanna know how he went in the VFL practice match on friday.

But Wells.
If he’s ok to go I’d absolutely play him.

He’s just a far better player and decision maker than most.

That simple.

The complicated part is his level of body to play say 75% of a game.

It's the goals and the experience that I'd be going for.

Brown just looked unable to assert himself as a forward against Geelong.
I’m really proud of what Callum has done this season, credit to him.

But he just looks to have lost a bit of oomph in the last part of the season.

I must say he’s still totally disciplined during games. Does what’s asked but just seems out of that oomph.
Another preseason etc.

Just imagine because that’s how it plays out we can only go in with Crocker.

He then plays two blinders.

And you know what? I’d take it too.

(A little bit of fun)

Fantasy certainly has its place saintly lol
Works sometimes.

But when I go fantasy it’s all Daniel Wells and Matthew Scharenberg.
(More chance of it coming to fruition.)

For Wells fantasy to come to fruition we would need to be willing to carry him for half a game, in the sense of having him come off the bench for 10 - 15 minute bursts and return. It would in effect mean we were almost playing a man down for half the game.

The vision would be he opens up the forwards and creates goal scoring opportunities - the fear is breaking down in the first quarter.

Shaz is closer to realization, has the silk - and from left field from me - when recruited was mooted to be a rising midfielder prospect - rotating him off the backline into the midfield may spring a surprise or two for opponents.

Yep. Agree.

We could be playing Richmond in the Prelim again in 2 weeks, but this time without the 2 players who tore them a new one in the same game a year ago. A bit of a worry I must say, we just have to hope Checkers continues his H&A form.
Won't you guys be playing either Brisbane or GWS in the Preliminary Final as it will be either WCE or Geelong playing Richmond, depending on the results next Friday night.

Crocker has the runs on the board. He can play out a game without limping off and offers us extra X factor in the forward line.

What ‘X factor’ does he offer on the forward line. He gives 110% I understand but he is slow. Finals footy goes up another notch so he will be liability unless he is kicking goals.

I e got to say Wells surprised me in his only game this year. Played forward and looked very dangerous kicking a few goals.

His X factor is in his unpredictability and elusiveness. What will crock do? Where will Crock go next? It bamboozles opponents. He does it all.. Takes huge contested grabs and kicks benders from the boundary. Crock has some freaky skills man. Nightmare for the opposition to match up on.

Mate I hope you’re right if he is selected. All I remember are the times his opponent waltzes out of the backline with him chasing 3 metres behind.
