G'day, I have made a summary for each of the first round picks, but unfortunately I dont have the time to complete the second round. The decisions in the second round are based on a combination of each team's needs with what was best avaliable in my op. Anway let me know what you think and I Hope you enjoy the read.
1. Melbourne: Tom Scully
Height: 182cm, Weight: 74kg, DOB: 15/05/91
Best player in the draft, and make no mistake he will be the first player selected on Thursday. His evasiveness and vision through traffic is elite, he also has terrific skills and makes good decisions.
Plays like: Chris Judd
2. Melbourne: Jack Trengove
Height: 185cm, Weight: 82kg, DOB: 02/09/91
What makes Trengove such a good junior is his ability to make good decisions and lift when he is needed most. Jack has strong leadership qualities, good hands for his size and isn’t afraid of the contest. He will be the sortt of player that will grind out the game to get his team over the line.
Plays like: Jimmy Bartel
3. Richmond: Dustin Martin
Height: 187cm, Weight: 86kg, DOB: 26/06/91
Smart footy brain and ball winning abilities make Dustin an outstanding prospect. Richmond lack good midfielders with elite kicking skills, and they will get one in Martin. Martin is the player that makes you feel safe with the ball in his hands and he could well turn out to be the best player from this draft.
Plays like: Dal Santo/Simon Black
4. Fremantle: Anthony Morabito
Height: 190cm, Weight: 90kg, DOB: 29/10/91
Morabito has been strongly linked with Freo for some time and I’m sure they won’t overlook him. Anthony is a powerful inside midfielder with good hands and will have the potential to dominate stoppages with his sheer size and physicality.
Plays like: Adam Goodes
5. North Melbourne: Gary Rohan
Height: 186cm, Weight: 79kg, DOB: 07/06/91
Make no mistake, Rohan or Cunnington will be read out at pick no. 5. NM have a lot of hard blue collar types and I think they will go down a different path and snap up the exciting fwd/mid. Rohan has the potential to be one of those elite unpredictable type medium forwards that opposition fans will come to fear. He doesn’t need to have the ball many times to cause significant damage, and his pace will allow him to play other roles up the field.
Plays like: Cyril Rioli
6. Sydney: Ben Cunnington
Height: 186cm, Weight: 84kg, DOB: 30/06/91
Ben is a bash and crash midfielder that possesses elite footy smarts, which makes him a very safe bet. Ben will probably play as early as round one next year and is my tip for the rising star. Sydney like midfield types that put their head over the ball and I have no hesitation placing Ben at number 6.
Plays like: Joel Selwood
7. West Coast: Lewis Jetta
Height: 178cm, Weight: 72kg, DOB: 04/05/89
Word around town is that Jetta will remain in WA and don the blue and gold. Lewis is a quick, evasive midfielder/fwd that will be able to play from round 1 next year. WC has been seeking a small fwd and they lack a player similar to that of Lewis. He will probably start out as a small forward, to push into the midfield in years to come.
Plays like: Andrew Lovett
8. Port Adelaide: John Butcher
Height: 197cm, Weight: 84kg, DOB: 03/07/91
This is where the draft will take shape and I believe PA will go with the best key position player available and that is Butcher. PA needs to start preparing for a Tredrea-less forward line, and I don’t rate either of the Westhoff brothers. Butcher has strong hands is courageous while flying for the ball, but he will need to work on his set shot kicking.
Plays like: Justin Kosi
9. Port Adelaide: Jake Melksham
Height: 182cm, Weight: 69kg, DOB: 29/08/91
Jake is a silky mid that can play both inside and outside, and can really hurt the opposition when he has the ball. After going tall, I think PA will be looking to improve their midfield with the loss of the Burgoyne brothers. PA will have a once again dominant midfield in the future with Jake, Hartlett, and Boak.
Plays like: Scott Pendlebury
10. Essendon: Kane Lucas
Height: 188cm, Weight: 79kg, DOB: 26/06/91
The bombers are near certainty in getting a midfielder with this pick, and will go with the best available. Kane dominated the draft camp, and seems to always have time when he plays. Can Kane become the A grade mid that Essendon need? I think so.
Plays like: Dal Santo
11. Melbourne: Ben Griffiths
Height: 198cm, Weight: 99kg, DOB: 17/09/91
If anything is more certain than Essendon taking a mid with pick 10, it's Melbourne with a tall at pick 11. Melbourne will take Ben here, as they need a tall forward to develop with Watts. Ben moves well for a 198cm giant and applies defensive pressure that I’m sure the Demons will like. Ben will develop into a monster full forward that will trouble even the best full backs.
Plays like: Kurt Tippet
12. Carlton: Daniel Talia
Height: 194cm, Weight: 89kg, DOB: 02/10/91
Daniel is the best Key defender in the draft (and the one I hope slips to pick 17, even though that is highly doubtful), not only for shutting down opponents but because of his ability to run off and create an attack similar to that of Scarlett. Talia is very coachable and will help Carlton’s backline in the future, (which may allow Waite to go back to CHF).
Plays like: Chad Cornes
13. Adelaide: Callum Bartlett
Height: 179cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 19/06/91
The crows are no strangers to picking up Falcons boys, and they will have a good one in Bartlett. Callum is a run and carry midfielder, with elite evasiveness and kicking skills (left foot mainly). Adelaide doesn’t really have any strong needs and they will be happy to take a gamble with an injured player that may result in a huge payoff for them.
Plays like: Luke Power
14. Sydney: Andrew Moore
Height: 188cm, Weight: 81kg, DOB: 30/05/91
Moore is a highly skilled utility that will probably end up playing on a half forward flank. Andrew is good in traffic and is capable of producing the impossible when you least expect it (goals from nowhere). He has strong hands and will be able to fill holes around the field when needed.
Plays like: O’Keefe (syd)
15. Western Bulldogs: Brad Sheppard
Height: 186cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 23/05/91
The dogs pride themselves on a game plan that revolves around running n carrying off the half back line. Not only is Brad the perfect suitor, but there has been a strong whisper around that the doggies are super keen on him.
Plays like: Sam Fisher
16. Port Adelaide: James Craig
Height: 195cm, Weight: 91kg, DOB: 18/04/91
This selection may surprise a few but I’m telling you all now that Craig will go a lot earlier than people on bigfooty think. I understand PA has a few young ruckman waiting in the wings, but Craig gives them a back up alternative and also strengthens their defense, (as I believe he will be a 70/30 defender/ruckman). I really like Craig’s aggression and leap at the ball (comprehensively beat Vardy in the Champs).
Plays like: Mitch Clarke
17. Geelong: Jasper McMillan-Pittard
Height: 185cm, Weight: 70kg, DOB: 01/01/91
If Adelaide doesn’t take him at 13, I strongly believe the cats will (even though id want us to take Black here, if the above panned out). JMP is the type of player that wont play in his first year or so (slight frame) that will have supporters questioning his abilities, only to then burst on the seen and becoming an important player. JMP is a damaging run off defender with good skills, and has makes good decisions and will prosper under the proven development systems at the cattery.
Plays like: Andrew Mackie
18. Melbourne: Aaron Black
(Plays like: Nick Reiwoldt)
19. Richmond: Jake Carlisle
(Plays like: Justin Westhoff)
20. Fremantle: Luke Tapscott
(Plays like: Shannon Hurn)
21. North Melbourne: Ryan Bastinac
(Plays like: Leigh Montagna)
22. West Coast: Mitchell Duncan
(Plays like: Buea Waters)
23. West Coast: Travis Coyler
(Plays like: Daniel Kerr)
24. Essendon: Luke Ball
25. North Melbourne: Mathew Panos
(Plays like: Mathew Lloyd)
26. Essendon: Jack Fitzpatrick
(Plays like: Paddy Ryder)
27. Brisbane: Jordan Gysberts
(Plays like: Joel Corey)
28. Geelong: Sam Reid
(Plays like: Harry Taylor)

(Plays like: Daniel Cross)
30. Collingwood: Josh Thomas
(Plays like: Trent Cotchin)
31. Western Bulldogs: Nathan Vardy
(Plays like: Trent West)
32. St. Kilda: Troy Taylor
(Plays like: Daniel Motlop)
33. Essendon: Allen Christensen
(Plays like: Mathew Stokes)
